I'm sure that prior to the previous fix you couldn't open the UIs, and they would just crash when you right-clicked on them. At least that was what happened with me, and this sounds different. Perhaps that's what Killerjdog was talking about; I haven't tried using the Cellar stuff enough yet to confirm what's going on.
The Growthcraft repo is not being maintained in any way. Gwafu just made the repository so that the community has easy access to the source code to fix bugs and "do what's best" for the mod. The only pull request Gwafu accepted was to fix the localization and that was all done before the repo's link was even posted here. It does certainly seem like a good idea to make a community fork of the repo, with the current fix, and have everyone contribute to that. Things will get very messy very fast if people start making their own independent builds with various fixes and additions. Might as well prevent that than try to sort out the inevitable clusterf#%$! I'm sure that it would be appreciated if/when Gwafu returns too.
Suggestion: a Larder Hook aesthetic/minor storage block, crafted with one rope and one tripwire hook, what you could use to hang strings of food from the ceiling like they used to do before refrigerators were invented. It would help to make kitchens that are more than just a furnace and a couple of chests.

Azumarill, I have begun progress on your agave idea. So far, I have agave syrup textures done, which can be used as a sugar alternative. I have not learned java yet, so, I cannot code anything yet.
