Server has glitches though, the stamina bar likes to chuck a seisure(well.. it may have just been the server...) and pvp seems broken a bit... I may have a fix for that with a 20% chance to work...

I see, well ill be sure to mention that its a beta version of the mod as such has kinks. Btw I got to play around with one of the versions that was posted on the forums here, it was one of the earlier additions of deep iron. It seemed to accumulated memory over time until it overloaded my cpu. Thought I'd pass it on, not sure if it was the mod or just my pc acting up
I have to say, I LOVE the hardcore crafting option! I love how it's realistic, where to get true iron it must be carbonized, or to get alloys on the crucible. That was the only way I played to be honest. I would personally keep it as an option, but set it to false by default. If people wish to play hardcore then they can change that option. And again, the haft idea was a good one because realistically different kinds of hafts would be used to hold the weight of different metals. If you do plan on keeping those as well, just try to make sure to change the textures between them. It gets really taxing just looking for the right haft when u have a whole chest of materials and they all look the same.

Yeah, really. The hardcore crafting is possibly my favorite feature of MF1, and it's probably one of the main reasons everyone here enjoys the mod so much.
Don't mistake "hard" with "tedious" though, don't want to go down that road.. It always seemed kind of tacked-on though.. I suppose It would fit in better when a workbenchy block is added that functions like anvils and such, but I didn't really say anything about getting rid of it in the first place... it beats those sodding wooden tools any day.
Hey AP, if you don't mind me asking, how exactly did you learn minecraft modding in the first place? You've mentioned that you don't actually program Java, but it seems like to me you know at least a bit from the amount of work you've done making MineFantasy. I'm sort of playing around with modding myself, and I was wondering if you had any tips on where or how to learn some things. I've successfully made items and blocks, that stuff is pretty easy from what I've found, but there's not a whole lot of info on how to make new crafting GUI's and such, which is what' I'd really like to do. Thanks!

Didn't really, just picked it up, I learn quickly and make connections, Started simple and worked my way up. Best bet with learning is to start small and branch out to each indibidual element individually. I made just an ore and toolset first, then did armour, then tried mobs.. just go where you want really.
Agreed! See AP, don't underestimate your fans desire to throw ourselves into the gauntlet and challenge with these more in depth systems.

And why (how) would a sling work like a bow?

Slings gather velocity from swinging and currently the system makes them not even viable as weapons
"A sling is a poor ranged weapon" -mf manual
Considering that a shortbow with flint arrows, the first bow, will do 3-4 damage. how do you propose keeping balance?
and i'm not even going to try and understand what the rest of it meant.
