Just ran some tests with Java 8 which should have better garbage collecting. The results are a bit better, but not much. The lag spikes are still there and with the same frequency, but they are a bit smaller. Overall Java 8 seems to be better suited to handle the memory load of 1.8.
I am curious how often Minecrafters have expressed love for you.
I'm pretty sure you could build a better PC than razer's blade for less price. Still it comes down to how much you desire to know about building custom PCs.
I have watched a couple tutorials but I don't have the money to build a PC.

Four words. P. C. Part picker. Probably the best site I've used to begin setting up a build. Even shows compatibilities and has a great search engine. (also, 500 bucks can get you an ok computer that is very upgradable later)

Though you may not think it, you can build a computer that runs most games at High-to-Max settings for under $500: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/sddwCJ
And you could even run lite shaders with that. But If you're only playing vanilla Minecraft, you can build one for around $250: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/8BdHnQ
I hope you hear (or read) this a lot....thank you, thank you, thank you for all your hard work. Your program makes a great game even better, i'd even go as far as saying, keeps the game alive.
I hope you and whomever is helping you with this update are well and happy.
I experience many issues regarding the following:
(Regarding to my use of the Optifine alpha for 1.8 - A2)
Light updates - self explanatory, happens just about anywhere
Water/piston movement (mechanics are fine, but there's a big delay between hearing something happen and actually seeing it)
Block placement/removal - Sometimes a place a block and it's invisible until i place another nearby and sometimes I remove a block and it stays there, but I can clip through it. Torches experience similar issue
There's no beta versions, aka previews, available yet... only alpha.
Quite honestly, you should continue looking up for them like everyone else does, this includes me, because alpha versions are not 100% reliable like previews. A lot of bugs to report, review and fix, way more than previews.
Beta versions, aka Previews, are relatively stable and that's why they are uploaded in the main post but hey... lemme give you a hint... go to page 2120 and maybe next time refrain from being slightly lazy? Everyone here searches through these pages to get their hands on the alpha versions, why should you be any different?
This isn't a matter of being lazy it really is obnoxious to find the link through an active thread, and you end up having to check the whole thread in case he posted another update, I don't think asking for a link on the OP was a big deal.
Maybe next time refrain from being an unhelpful jerk?

Also, you could have looked a little bit and seen that on page 2123 I had said that the first alpha post was on page 2115.
I actually did help you, I told you to which page to go I spared you from going through hundreds of pages to find the download link and told you to which page to go right away.
I don't see this as being an unhelpful jerk. Oh... you're welcome!

I'm not the guy that asked for the link, he asked for the link to be posted on the front of the post, I agree with him, this thread is incredibly active, and while you can name the page one of the builds is on, we have little to no way of knowing if a new alpha build came out with all the fixes and improvements it contains.
Calling someone lazy for wanting a slight convenience is just stupid.

As he said before, this is really alpha. The mod creator doesn't like to post unstable stuff to the OP. I'd you can't find it (or use the freaking search bar for his posts) than you don't need it enough.

Using the Early alpha for 1.8 and its more than tripled my FPS i normally get 10-20FPS in 1.8 with the optifine Early Alpha im getting 100-120FPS

Long time Optifine fan just wanted to say a big thank you that you are still updating Optifine regularly!
I especially dig the graphic tweaks like AA and AF so thanks that you keep incorporating them.
Is there any chance that you add stereoscopic 3d side by side rendering? Currently there is no optimal solution for sbs3d. Would be very cool for people with 3D monitors or similiar. I'm using a DIY Rift based on Google Cardboard and Trinus Gyre App for streaming to my smartphone/head tracking and it's been an awesome experience so far. Now I would like to play Minecraft in 3D as well.
I have the same setup. Curious, how did you manage the headstrap situation? I stapled a headlamp strap to mine and tried to add face cushions... but it has worked out less than optimally. My phone also has the USB port along the edge so I cant use it with Trinus Gyre in USB mode and Cardboard at the same time without cutting a hole in the headset.
Back on topic, SBS3D would be a nice feature for optifine but it would also probably be better as a stand alone mod. MinecRift exists but sadly is stuck on 1.6.2.
I use both FPS++ and FastCraft along side Optifine and they work pretty darn good. One thing though you cannot USE the Shaders Mod alongside FastCraft otherwise you get a crash.

What's the USE Shaders?? Because I never heard of that type of shaders pack.
I apologize for posting about this once more, but it is really frustrating. From my understanding, when V-Sync is turned on, framerate should stay at a stable 60. (given that the specifications can achieve it, and the monitor frequency is 60) My fps does generally stay at 60 when V-Sync is turned on, but I have noticed that fps looks very jittery and not fluent at times. From what knowledge I have on the subject, the lagometer should look like this when V-Sync is turned on:
Notice how it is pretty much a large white block. But when the game is un-paused, here's what I get:
See how the framerate and chunk update number are the same in both pictures, but the lagometer in the un-paused screenshot appears as if it is a bunch of thin needles. I'm not sure if this is natural or if it is a bug, but it sure is annoying.
