On a somewhat off-topic question; Anyone here recently switched to a G-sync (120/144hz) monitor and found it to have a positive effect on their framerates as it should.. Was contemplating on upgrading to one..
Not a G-Sync monitor, but my 120Hz monitor is amazing. Everything you do is smoother. Once you switch from 60Hz, you'll never go back.
No luck getting this mod to work with Forge ever since 1.8 has been out.
Clean installation of Minecraft.
- Minecraft Launcher: 1.6.11
- Minecraft: 1.8.0
- Java: jdk1.8.0_31
- Forge: forge-1.8-11.14.0.1299
- Optifine: OptiFine_1.8.0_HD_U_C7
- Operating system: OS X Yosemite 10.10.2
All I'm doing is downloading Minecraft 1.8.0, running the forge installer, then dropping Optifine in the ~/Application Support/minecraft/mods/1.8 folder. Forge runs fine. If Optifine is present in the mods folder, it crashes immediately at launch.

Half the reason I got a 120Hz too. The other half is it was I wanted a bigger monitor and it was only a few more $ for a 120Hz / 1ms.
Question - On 60fps V-sync Minecraft still looks like 30 fps (From memory this was a problem in vanilla 1.8), so I have to go for 120fps V-sync for it just to look like it's 60fps.... so, is this just me? Can't remember if I've checked in the latest OF 1.8 versions.

AMD 280X, it can handle Minecraft at 120fps but most AAA titles V-sync nice and smoothly at 60. And all MC versions up until 1.8 look perfect with V/60, then I played vanilla 1.8 (before Optifine A0 was released) and it looks terrible with V-sync on. I'm sure I read somewhere it was either a confirmed bug or at least other people were experiencing this too. Give it a test, let me know how it looks to you? Limit your monitor to 60, then start MC 1.8 (vanilla or OF) and set to V-sync. Compare this to when the fps slider is just set at 60 (except for screen tearing of course).
I would like to hear from others, especially sp614x on this issue!

I took a look at the past few pages, and it would seem several other users have had this same problem as I have, but I figure I'd add my crash report to the bunch - just on the off chance it might actually help the developers in some way.
I'd like to add that I had been using OptiFine HD U C6 along with Forge 1265 just fine with almost no problems whatsoever - with the possible case of the viewport sometimes rendering oddly at certain Rendering Distances - but after updating Forge to 1296 and later 1303, the game would crash upon loading as long as OptiFine was enabled. Updating to C7 results in the same crash behavior.

There's suddenly a lot of that going around. Was "gifting" Optifine capes a thing at some point?
Thanks for your help, I did what you said, but I've arrived at another problem.
How do you edit your cape? I used another email to access my account, but now when I try to log in on the "Cape" tab with my Minecraft username and account, it tells me that my "Login failed" and that my credentials are invalid.

It's been a thing.. tf.. there are always contests on YouTube giving away Optifine capes lol. Since people who buy Optifine capes can change the username the cape goes to, they can give it to a desired player. But in most scenarios (like now) they don't have the donation email to re-change the username to their new username. So ;l People still buy other players capes xD
Hey i have a problem i changed my name and when i try to change my optifine cape to my new account it says Error: Cape not found for Right_Back_Atcha if anyone can find a fix for this i would be really happy.

Update:
It looks like somebody already reported this. The issue is apparently seen with Forge 1295 and later. I rolled back to build 1290 and it works ok.

Sure, but you have to have a GPU that can push 120FPS. I could hit that in MC and Valve games and some simpler top-down games but not much else...
I've never used V-Sync, so I wouldn't know. Does it do the same in other games?

Apparently not. If you want to keep the cape, I suggest not changing your username.
