It's no secret in the community: there's at least one employee working on Minecraft for Android and iOS. But when will we know more?
Currently, Aron Nieminen (mispelled by Gamasutra as Neiminen) is hard at work on an iOS version of the game, according to Gamasutra.
Danial Kaplan, Mojang's Head of Business, confirmed via Kotaku that there is also an Android version in the pipeline. The original plan was to outsource the project, but ultimately, the project became that of Mojang. Like Minecraft itself, the mobile port has a release date planned for later this year.
Aron Nieminen was previously employed by King.com. Aron and Markus (Notch) knew each other from working together on Sacred Gear, a "2D online multiplayer action game". Aron is well-qualified for the position, having a love of mathematics, experience with C and Python, and written a bachelor thesis on the use of shadows in Direct3D 10. Aron appears to have attended Blekinge Technical Institute.

I'm personally looking forward to the iPhone one.
