I really enjoy Minecraft and I have been trying to improve my pixel art.
So I thought this was a great excuse to work on a Resource Pack.
[WIP Thread] Project P
I figured I would start with the blocks that people see the most when it comes to a Minecraft world and get them as best as I could.
Currently have:
9 variations of Dirt
6 Side variants
3 Top variants
6 variations of Grass_Side
2 Grass_Side Overlays
2 Grass_Top Overlays
I created a simple Grass texture that I want to revisit later.
Currently I am working on a style for stone, hitting a lot of road blocks, because I never liked how stone and cobblestone interacted.

These textures look amazing! i didn't even realise alternative blocks like that were a thing, i'm definitely looking into it now. I can't wait to see how this progresses, i love the look of the textures so far
I like the gravel how it is!
I think the stones are good how they are, they flow together pretty well which I'm pretty sure is what you were going for.
(At least from this picture, the stone and Andersite look a little too similar in color.)
I think the way you did the ores looks very good. It feels like they are actual fragments breaking out of the stone.
I really like the seamless connection of the materials and how the stone interacts wiht its environment. Its refreshing to see stuff like this after a long hiatus away from the forums. I would certainly love to get my hands on this stuff and see it in game, Its stunningly beautiful. (I would change up stone colours for the granite, andesite and diorite to be less like their default counterparts, but that's mostly a matter of preference on my side of things). I certainly am interested and invested in how this pack proceeds

Awesome, I'm glad I'm on the right track. I will clean that one up and add some variation.
Yeah, The color needs work a lot. I just took the vanilla color and applied it to the stone I already had.

Thanks for your thoughts! On the stone, I am thinking the same thing!
I'll make sure to keep this thread actively updated!
I think the bumpy plank shapes might be a lil off putting, I would suggest trying to put "texture" in the planks (i do mean wood grain), that might make it look a lil less odd to look at

Currently have:
Wow! I really like this, they look great.
After working on this for way to long.
In all this was my 32nd variation of stone design.
Finished Stone
Also added some more grass overlays and "tall grass" progress
More Screenshots in Spoiler below:
- Started working on Coal, Iron, and Gold ore
- Trying to figure out how to make Andesite blend but also look unique
- Finished all 9 variations of Stone

Thanks! Yeah, if you need help with any of the alternative blocks let me know.
Needing some input: (Any feedback will help)
Should I go with the more vanilla approach of gravel or stick with my version and refine it? (dirt with gravel rocks)
Also:
Do you think that each stone should have it's own unique shape or should they match the basic stone (how I have it now)
Also x2:
How do you feel about the way I did the ore? Should I do more of the Vanilla approach and make it cracked through the stone?
Stone -Andesite - Granite - Diorite and Gravel surrounding
