Oh look. It's this pack again! Been a while since we've seen this one posted.
I'll level with you: It's been done. To death. Like, so far to death that even Charon facepalms when he sees one of these get posted. Yes, it's really that bad.
This pack is what we call a "bucket fill" pack. It's a pack made primarily by selecting an area (sometimes the entire block) and using the bucket/fill tool in the image editing software to just make an entire area a single color. There's loads of these around. Just search for "simplecraft", "flatcraft", or any variation like that and you'll find literally hundreds of these packs. They're a dime a dozen, really. They're so common, in fact, that one of the sticky threads at the top of the Resource Pack Discussion forum even has a mention of them:
Myth:Making a simple bucket-fill pack is OK for your first texture pack.
This is only partially false. Making a simple pack is a good way to familiarize yourself with how minecraft textures work and were they are place. However, unless it is amazing or you want feedback on how to make it better, don't bother posting it.
This will not only annoy everyone, you will also receive a large amount of borderline flame posts from the community. Simple bucket-fill packs have been done to death. When you make a pack it is best to try to do something that hasn't been done before. Either an idea that had been attempted but not well, or something completely revolutionary.
That was written in 2011! Five years ago there were already too many of this pack. It hasn't exactly gotten better in that time.
So look, I get that you're new to this and trying to make something. And that's great! Everyone has to start somewhere, but I hope after all I've posted that you'll realize that this isn't a good place to start.
Now that you know how to make a resource pack... quit making this one. Start over. Read the All-Inclusive Guide to Texturing. Look up some tutorials on how to do things like tiling and shading. There are plenty in that thread, and even more on sites like deviantart. If you want to do the "simple" style and have large color areas, check out any of the Simple Pack Showdown competitions (One, Two, and Three) to get some inspiration. Learn to make a palette and read up on some color theory so that you can make a pack with striking visuals and a unique aesthetic that's not just "default redux".
You know the basics of how to make a pack. Good. Now it's time to stop being a pack maker, and start becoming a Resource Pack Artist!
Thanks for hurting my feelings. I'll stop making resource packs then
If that's what you want to do, that's your call. Nothing I can do about it. You asked for opinions and suggestions, and I provided. Not everyone is going to like what you're doing and some feedback you get is going to be negative. That's life, cruel as that sounds. Sorry if I hurt your feelings, but I gave my honest opinion of your pack. Nothing that an be done if it's not what you wanted to hear.
I would much prefer you take my advice and improve rather than just giving up. Again though, that's your perogative. I can't make you improve as an artist. I have no way of twisting your arm and making you learn things. I would hope, though, that at the end of the day learning to do something well and making a product that you can genuinely be proud of and that earns you the respect of your peers and fans would be incentive enough.
But if you just want to quit, that's your buisiness. If you ever change your mind, the Resource Packs community will he here to point you in the right direction.
Discontinued
Will use the same name for my next pack
