I really like texturing weapons. Recently, someone suggested I make scythes for one of my pack.... and I loved the idea, but I also loved the daggers already in the pack. So what to do? Well, I thought, I bet I can do a bunch of different weapons, stuff them all into a pack, and let people yank out the ones they want.
And I would love to hear what you want to see. You don't even have to suggest original weapons! If you look at the swords and don't see one you like, then let me know and I'll make some more. My only condition is the weapon has to appeal to me, if I won't enjoy texturing it then I won't make it.
Also: no ranged weapons and no guns. I'm not fond of texturing the animation and I really don't like texturing guns. Not that I don't like guns, I just don't like drawing them.
I've included some examples of the weapons that currently exist in my other packs. I'll continue to update this thread as I work on them.
I want to see you make some rapiers. I like rapiers. Make lots! Like 10. Or 20.
...
Why stop there? Make 50, or 100! MAKE ALL THE RAPIERS.
Also I kind of want to see a weapon where the blade freefloats seperate from the handle, with the idea that it exists within the same 'plane' as the handle. Like a sword with the middle taken out.

I had a gut feeling that rapiers would get requested pretty quickly. SURE. I will make them so shiny.
Want some cool weapon ideas?
I got a few, umm...well as the dude above me said, rapiers would be cool.
You could go with some comedy weapon pack, whatever that means is up to you. Kinda a broad term, but leaves you with imagination and freedom.
Maybe I'm derping, but I don't recall your ever making battle axes before.
It may seem similar to an axe, but a Halberd would be awesome as well.
Maybe a Landsknecht? (The weapon, not troop)
Maybe different weapons for different holidays you like, like Halloween or Christmas.(Or whatever winter Holiday you love)
I see you like creepy stuff, so making weapons made from bent pieces of metal, bones for the handle and stuff sounds like something you could enjoy.
Also, is this just weapons? Or a couple of tools as well?
Or again, does that just depend on if you want to or not?
No, I don't expect you to make all of these, I just am giving you a lot of ideas knowing most probably won't be your cup of tea.
Speaking of, mine just finished steeping. *derps off and gets tea*
Guess I don't know about them enough, lol.
But yeah, I was meaning the two-handed ones...heh.
Hope it could fit, MC swords are kinda stumpy...lol
That's the beautiful thing about the model system. If you jump from 16x to 32x and make the sword render twice as big, then you have a sword of the same pixel density with more space, meaning longer swords and more freedom.
Of course, then you run into the issue of swords being a higher resolution in the inventory, so you almost have to do that for every item.
I just want to learn how to make those 3D resource packs, because when people do it for tools it looks amazing!
One thing that always bothers me is that the tools are still super thick from the side, which 3D recourse packing can take care of that!

Scythes and Rapiers will definitely have a place in a Tinker's Construct version, that's for sure.
3D item models are a little wonky at the moment--it's why you haven't seen much in the way of actual sword models. (I actually ran into this same problem when messing around with torches.)

I was referring more to using the same model technique as default, but resizing it. That's a thing you can do. You can make it taller, wider, and thinner if you want. Then you just need to upscale the texture to match. That also means you have to go up to 32x from 16x, and so on, because minecraft doesn't handle other resolutions well in the inventory.
While I'm not particularly happy with this sword, it's an example.
I really needed to make it a bit thinner, but the idea is there. You can also use rotations to make things like daggers that stab instead of slash. Like rapiers! I like rapiers.
Also none of this is doubling as a way to show of textures for hype. Totally not. You're crazy.
I agree on the axes part, but most of my list of weapons is so that creating a Balkon's weapon mod pack would be possible for someone as derp as myself to put together...
I laughed at the Giant Sword and Club thing you said, lol.
Yeah, I've already got warhammers in the heavenly pack. Battleaxes... sure. Scythes are in progress, though I'm stumped on what to do with the gold one right now. I think I'll make the stone one look like bone, though. Giant swords... probably not. It'd be hard to get the proportions right. Bo staffs... that could be easy, maybe. Clubs, sure. Autumn pack has maces, but I can do some more because I love maces.
I'll consider the electric guitars?
Haven't worked on this recently, I was busting my butt trying to get the Asian pack's armor updated.
Won't we be hitting people with the back of the scythe that way?
Or am I derping? Regardless of which direction I hit them, it looks good.
My favorite is the iron one with the curly snake thing around it, lol.

I was thinking more of how you carry them. Yeah, it's a little odd on attacking, but I think it looked better to carry them properly. I mean, 80% of the time we're not flailing wildly at monsters, right?

Friendship is magic!
I am impressed you know about them. But are you talking about the zweihander? That's their long, two-handed sword.
Guess I don't know about them enough, lol.

I spent most of today working on items for the medieval pack, but I've got a couple scythes down and have started on the rapiers. They're coming!

Weapons, huh?
Let's see...
Hammers would be cool. altough i think there are already hammers in one pack.
BattleAxes, obviously. like, viking ones. HUGE ones.
Bo staffes. and other staffes.
Cutlass could be interesting.
Schytes. deadly schythes.
Giant swords that no human being could possibly use.
Clubs. not the suit, the giant stick.
Maces
And electiric guitars. serious.
i don't know if it would be easy to make those, tho. it's up to you.
Either way, the stuff you do is awesome. is kind of you to hear the fans.
Bein' normal for suckers.

Scythes! Now I just need to get enough weapons to release this pack and you all can have lovely lovely weaponry.

These look fantastic. Just have to say.
Eccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccc
Rapiers!! How many different weapon styles do you think should be in the pack before I release it?
How about Maces and Spears?
