What do you guys think of the cobblestone. I have been trying to get it for ages and I finally got one that is ok, this is the best one so far and I just wanded to know what everyone thinks of it.
BTW the seconded image is the item that I zoomed in on.
Cut the big stone in half and the texture will look less repetitive. Otherwise its good for a beginning.
Also I wouldn't recommend to start a thread in the WIP section just for one texture. Use the discussion forum instead and put all textures you're going to make in the same thread and once you have at least a few dozens of textures done you can return to the WIP section.
This made me realize that my cobblestone's lines are too dark and stands out too much as well.
Wait a minute, this thread is about your textures not mine! The cobbstone looks good, however the lines are (what ThistledRuby said) stands out too much, making each individual stone look flat. This is why I'd recommend working in layers so you can easily change the line color or opacity (I'm hoping you're working with layers, it helps a lot)
The big stone isn't so bad in my opinion, but it is an easy fix, just add another line cutting through it, and edit the shading. I had to do the same with my stone texture, it's a good quick fix. As for what Dark Mirage said, layers are a godsend for texture and digital artists, I really recommend you have your lines and shading on seperate layers if you aren't already doing that
I'm having a bit of a hard time pulling out one block, but i'm assuming it's the same size. It's an improvement ^^ like mentioned above it might need some more shading, but it's really up to you. Shading gives textures depth and more features, and makes it look less like a flat plane of the cube. Even a simple bit of shading, like the two tone system I use in mine, works wonders.

thanks a lot, and im sorry im not very good at screenshots but this is very helpful
Could you please explain working with layers, I might be doing it already but I would be great to get a more in depth look at it
Say you draw a quick sketch on one layer, and then you use a new layer to make a more refined version of what you drew. I allows you to draw without worrying of messing up things on other layers you made, It's great for separating things like Lines, Shading, and Fills, which is my system of layers. I have a separate layer for each, one being the bucket fill of the block i'm using, then I have the Line layer which has all the lines and dividers, such as the lines in cobblestone. Then there's my Shading layers, one for the dark bits, and one for the light. It's easy to get into a pattern of using them, and it goes a long way for you in the long run, it makes editing things easier
I made the cobble by making the individual stones the spiting them up so some would match the block beside them (connected textures concept) the I tried to shade it

Thank you both I will try and make it better
