Oh man, those logs are too good. I like the sand and rocky look of the sandstone, but something seems off about the smooth sandstone... maybe give it a bit more depth, or try a design with larger bricks? It might just be the way it's used in the screenshot, so I'd have to try it out on some buildings to see how it looks there... and do I see random CTM on the spruce planks? Really nice touch.
About the mod screenshots, upon looking at other images I noticed that the overall atmosphere was good in the desert areas but the textures weren't really anything special (not to mention trying to play it was a pain; the storyline is terribly broken up and hard to follow).
hey Steal, sense I have the pc version of skyrim, if you need any shots for refs (sense I dunno looks like you have consoul version?) I'd be happy to get you some. You know, when I'm not at work like I will be in a ...half hour from now ^^;
Sand, sandstone, and smooth sandstone. Right now the rocky stuff is the sandstone while the bricks is the smooth variety.
I'm not sure how I feel about either the design or the color. What do you guys think?
Hey Steel, sorry i've not got back to you yet on some feedback.
Hmmm, i'm not seeing the same feel with the sand blocks as i get with the rest of the pack they arn't bringing that charm and lovely rustic worn style i see from the other work, almost a different pack too clean . What about making the bricks less perfect in form? I do like the sand texture no probs there.
Also a screen shot of some of the other blocks next to the sand blocks, would help to look at consistency issues in the artwork.
Okay other feedback from playing the preview some things have been picked up on already.
Love the colour choices and colour use, and some very nice texture work in general
I especially love the moss stone brick, grass, stone brick and foliage. The artwork style has that Capcom/Neogeo arcade feel to me.......no bad thing at all
Some blocks that looked a little off or a little rough around the edges for me technically, Stone looks unfinished like you've worked out the form but needs more definition (but not over the top), couple of areas on the gravel that give a tiling error, snow has some sporadic single pixels that don't look like they belong. Lastly there's a horizontal line on the birch that is very noticeable.
I have to say that if you are a stickler for consistency i would keep the moss stone brick next to your in progress artwork as a style tile (as we used to call 'em) a point of reference that the pack can follow as that just nails it for me technically and visually.

I upped the contrast of the cracks between the bricks, and that seems to have mostly solved the problem.(Nvm, I'm going to try a different design). I'll have to set up a good test environment later-- the sandstone is working really well for a Raven-rock type feel.
And yes, those spruce planks ARE randomized. How good of you to notice. c:
(Thanks for trying out the mod, btw. Too bad it didn't have anything useful)

I'd appreciate it. I do indeed have the console version.
I especially need screenshots of textures for brick, obsidian, wool, and redstone lamp.

-Good idea about the 'style tile' I'll have to start doing that.
-I'll try a rougher layout for the smooth sandstone and see how that looks.
-For the stone, do you mean unfinished as in it needs highlights? Or unfinished as in the lines still aren't sharp enough?
Thanks for the feedback. I'll have to get another preview copy out to you once I have more stuff done.

No problem, with the stone currently it reminds me of a scanned pencil drawing with a soft B pencil, maybe some subtle highlighting of the edges and little sharpening of the darker areas, if you look at the stone bricks some more depth would really bring the form out......it doesn't need to be too much but its very flat at the moment. Hope that makes sense
Edit, luuuverly new bark texture.
Edit, tall grass couple of blobbly areas on the top part of it that could be broken up like the rest......small things, small things.

Fixed the grass, and the birch bark. I love it when I have people who can point out all these little errors for me. It's always useful to have a second (or third or fourth) pair of eyes.
Testing now. I'm also thinking of CTMing the top of the smooth sandstone to look like cracked sandstone cobbles.
Oh, and what should I do for the carved sandstone? I don't have any good references for redoran carvings or anything, although maybe something Akaviri or just a generic eagle would suffice....

The carving depicts one of the large Crab-like creatures whose shells the Redoran
use as housing. There are banners in some of their buildings with the same symbol.

Oh. Hehe. For some reason I thought it was a face..... ahem. Anyway, great find! And a great pic. I can definitely make a block from that.
Feathers, I want to build with that sandstone. Do Quartz soon! :3
I feel the problem with the brick sandstones is that the bricks are too perfect. It should be more rugged, uneven.

Yeah, I agree. Still thinking of how to approach it without having it look too much like the cobble.
Quartz won't be coming any time soon, unfortunately, because 1.5.1 is still runs slower than a turd for 64x packs.
Logs in action:
Go-go random texture!!
Ughhhh, the colour scheme for the log and leaves is just too sexy...
I lurve it...

Excellent! That's good to hear, especially considering the amount of interpretation I've had to do.

Ooo, demonic. What's the context for it?

The sandstone is more red-ish now. Not that you can tell in this screenshot.
