So, given that Cave Story is one of my favorite indie games, I'm developing a 32x32 Resource Pack for it because... Well, because I can. Suggestions appreciated and hopefully it's suitable. MCPatcher or OptiFine is REQUIRED for proper texture connection. I'll be updating as I go along, so bear with me. Sprites belong to Studio Pixel and NICALiS.
Screenshots please? I can garuntee you that no one on this forum will download this pack without atleast some screenshots. Sorry but thats just the way it is around here. As Alvoria frequently says "Art is a visual media."
Well, at least I can say it's a little more complete than the one that's already popular on the internet, but my reason for making this is because I wanted a higher quality one.
Wait I think I see some fai- oh, nevermind. I noticed the placeholder part. Anyway, I like your pack so far. I think it's pretty fitting since Minecraft was supposed to be called Cave Game.
I am huge fan of this game and I play it a lot, even though it has been out for a couple years. (Quite a bit actually) I think you've done an awesome job. Keep up the AWESOME work!
I personally would have liked to continue with this pack but, with 1.8, I became very put off by the way textures were rearranged so they don't look smooth (like with the dirt and sand) and the lack of meta value for things like webs to make chains.
the irritating texture rotation is incredibly easy to fix with a few small json files, a lot of packs already have, all it is, is a little bit of text in the block configuration that tells it to rotate the texture in 90 degree increments, which is super simple to clip out, as for the chains, you'll just need to use CTM for that, which is standard in optifine and mcpatcher which most people use anyway
well... it's rather simple, you can extract the minecraft.jar file to get at the block configuration files. there's an assets/minecraft/blockstates(imitate this path in the resource pack) folder you'd want to find files like grass.json, bedrock.json, stone.json ect
simply open them up with notepad and you'll see this:
save the file then you're done, no more annoying rotations. just do that for every texture that bothers you.
it's ALSO possible to edit the json files to mix random alternate textures, so you can tell it to have grass look mostly the same with a different texture every now and then
you'll need to make extra block model files in assets/minecraft/model for that code to look for, grass_normal.json, pretty sure you can figure out what to do with the contents of those, they just tell minecraft what block shape it is and what texture to use. that "weight" bit says how often it shows up, so you can weight grass_normal to 50 and grass_normal1 to 1 and it'll show up once every 50 of the normal blocks
i also have a bit of code tucked away that can disable biome colors on leaves and grass completely if you want it
as for CTM, i honestly haven't worked with that enough to know how to set it up, i know you can configure it to arrange chains and such how you want. so you'll have to do some research on that

Oh, and i added some Cave Story sound effects.
You should make the wooden sword look like Toroko's stick in Cave Story
Metadata textures for spiderwebs in case you want to use it for chains or pillars~

This looks great! I love the colours, and it is just a very well done pack
