Thanks for the kind words everyone! More updates will be coming this weekend. :smile.gif: I've been swamped with work this week.
By the way, if anyone knows how I could go about setting up a texture pack customizer (similar to the Painterly one), even just a general idea, I would be immensely grateful if you could PM me, since I really want to do this eventually but I haven't got the slightest clue as to how to go about it.
Wanted to wait until BBCode was turned back on. Small update for now, since I haven't had much time to work on this lately.
I kind of like how full-block coal looks, but I will make a version more like the original, and I will refine it more.
A bit plain, but it'll do for now. Alternate version with text is also included. Once again needs refinement.
I also made some progress on ores, nothing final yet and I still have to look at tiling (I'm mainly struggling to get the feel of the metals right, ie. making gold look like gold, same with diamond, etc.) as well as colors.
Tilled dirt is also relatively done. I just noticed that the 'wet' dirt is waaaay too dark, will fix that, heh. The ice texture in the previous terrain.png I posted was opaque (my mistake) but I've fixed it.
Here's the updated terrain.png:
Sorry for the small and infrequent updates, life's getting busy at the moment, but work will definitely pick up as the competition deadline gets closer (since I do want to submit this). And once again thanks for the kind words & encouragement to keep working on this.
@Ducci Don't worry, I won't be taking anything down. :smile.gif:
For future reference, if you're using Windows, right click the terrain.png after saving it somewhere, then go to "Send to" > "Compressed (zipped) folder". If you're on OS X, right click, then select "Compress 'terrain.png'". Then put that zip file into your texture packs folder.
@Ducci Hah, I can't believe my OCD self didn't notice that. I rushed a bit on it as you can tell . I will add some fuse cables to the top as in the original texture, I just couldn't come up with anything decent when I tried it. :tongue.gif:
@ The last few posts: sorry for the late reply! I forgot to check on this thread for the past few weeks.
Yes, I'm still working on the pack. It's been taking longer than expected due to school, but I'm making progress. I lost the .psd file containing all my layers & such at one point as well, so that's also set me back quite a bit. This means I won't be able to finish this in time for the competition deadline, because I would rather finish this slowly but properly rather than rush it & turn out with a mediocre result.
But I have an update! A few changes:
[*:t7cl348f] The cobblestone is a little but darker and less saturated than before. Previously it felt a little too blue & didn't stand out too well from the smoothstone.
[*:t7cl348f] The edges of the stone steps have been toned down considerably, they look much nicer now.
[*:t7cl348f] Various tweaks to the workbench as well as the furnace.
[*:t7cl348f] Reeds, wheat, jukebox, redstone powder, redstone torch, lever, cactus, as well as gold, iron & diamond block textures have been added.
[*:t7cl348f] Torch texture has been changed (I felt the white at the top of the previous texture, which represented the fuel-soaked rag, was too distracting)
[*:t7cl348f] Very basic placeholder bedrock, obsidian, red cobblestone & lightstone textures added, only to make them a bit more easy on the eyes for now.
Still a ton to do, especially since I want to turn this into a complete pack (with gui textures, mobs, etc. and possibly items). Apologies for the pretty terrible ore block textures at the moment, they're simply placeholders.
