A fun idea, but you need to work on that contrast. Everything is WAY too washed out. Compare it to the last picture - everything has clearly visible features, while your textures are borderline smooth.
Thanks for feedback. I've got the highlights and shadows on their own channels, so should be no problem. Hm... I just realized there's another set of darker gray blocks. Perhaps that's the answer.
I decided to go with a gun metal gray to better match Empire interiors. The lights are now the redstone light texture instead of pictures. (the vertical strip of horizontal lights still uses a picture)
I played around with the greeble contrast. In still pictures (like above) the greebles look pretty flat. But when you get moving, they really start to stick out. When they are contrasted more and you run down the hall, it starts to confuse the eye.
Ok, finally got the greebles right. Something was bugging me about the previous version. I think it was the greeble pattern, and that's why it looked better flat. So the final DeathStar interior will be using the "stone brick" series (brick, mossy, cracked, stairs, and slab) in gun metal blue with redstone lights.
Here's another reference shot. Most of the panels I've found online are some version of this.
I am surprised at the lack of popularity here. This is a very unique idea, and you are executing it very well, especially for a 16x16!
One critique though: I think you need to check back on your contrast a bit. I am very much liking the textures themselves, but some textures (like wool) have very low contrast, while some things (like some of the paintings and the floor texture in that last screenshot) have a bit too much.

yeah, i think when more of them are complete, i can stick them all side-by-side and use them in context. Like the greeble pattern for the droid tank works well, but when applied to the sandcrawler, it looks like the background of a bad website from the 90's. so i think they'll kind of morph through the life of the project.
I've been working on a Millennium Falcon build, to use for some of the textures. By the time this texture pack is done, there will probably be enough ships and buildings completed to do an Adventure map, or maybe a server.
Throughout the Death Star are these little things that look like fire alarms. I'm leaning on using the redstone torch. So far, it looks like this:
Here's Tantive IV, the ship that Leia is on in the first Star Wars, using the same "fire alarm" thing. This is the the place where she gives R2 the message for Obi Wan.
Here's a reference shot. Comparing the hallway architecture to other shots of Tantive IV, it seems like the metallic blue hue is created by lighting. I might put some water in the ceiling and shine a light through it.
3 more textures finished: tripwire, another painting, and "item frame". Here they are, used in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon.
Skeletons become Battle Droids. I think their skinny appendages work to advantage. Iron armor will be Stormtrooper armor, so the Battle Droids can be outfitted to become Stormtroopers.
Similarly, Wither Skeleton will become Super Battle Droid. The Super Battle Droids will don black armor (chain armor) to become Dark Troopers. This same armor can be used to create a Darth Vader Boss. (not sure where Vadar's helmet will come from yet... probably just a block + use Seth Bling's filter.)
Wow, this is looking great! I have been looking around for some good Star Wars texture packs because I am interested in making a Republic Commando adventure map and texture pack. This one would be great! Keep up the good work!

Thanks. Iron armor will end up regular Stormtrooper armor. Maybe you can swap it out for clone commando armor. The pumpkin will still be a clone helmet with head's-up-display.
Sorry for a couple weeks' delay. A buddy of mine acquired video game rights to a "well known pre-teen fantasy book series" and wants to do a Minecraft version of the game. So helping to prep for that is chewing up free time. I hope to return to the Star Wars stuff soon.
Just a suggestion: try to post all these pictures (and information) on the original post too, so people don't have to look through all the pages to see them.
You can't yet, because it's a work in progress pack, and Jet doesn't want to release it in such early development (unless however he leaked it in a hidden download, I've seen people do that before). I am quite anxious as well though. It looks nice!
I personally think the super battle droid should have a taller body before it thins out, but that's just my opinion.

I'll probably leak when all the blocks are done, before all the inventory stuff and mobs are complete.
Until then, here's a utility program which will convert the terrain.png and items.png to individual images, and put them in the correct 1.5 folder structure on your desktop.
So if you have some favorite texture packs, but the authors haven't gotten around to converting them, maybe this will help.
...But that's just my opinion.

This app was written in Adobe AIR, and it's a bit bulky. But it has a gui so it's easy to use. Enjoy.
