Pretty much just the title - the format looks the same - I have just randomized the display names for everything, I have tried f3+t; made sure I am on english (US) and am using the correct resource pack but nothing works - any suggestions?

"It should work, but doesn't. Why?"
Well... chances are you made a mistake. I suggest fixing it. Usually fixing the mistake solves the problem. I hope that helps you.
No but seriously, care to post your file so that we can SEE what you've done rather than just taking guesses? It's probably some tiny little detail that you've overlooked that we'd never guess at. A session log (.minecraft/logs/latest.log) posted to Pastebin or a similar sight would also help narrow down the cause of the issue.
It might also help if you ran your file through something like http://jsonlint.com to make sure that the formatting is still valid. If it is, then post the file. If not, it'll give you a hint as to how to fix it.

Please help us to help you.
You probably made the result use an item from the x-list, put a random item from the y-list as that value, and put a comma at the end, and loop it.
You need to do the first step manually and then loop it with the comma at the front of the loop.
You will also need to do the three "language." keys manually.
Also, don't forget the {curly brackets} at the front and back.
