Hello.
I used to change the mojang loading screen using resource pack with the title/mojang.png file. In 1.16, it appears to be no longer there. Has the ability to change the loading screen been removed? Or is it possible with Optifine only? Or is there some new way of doing it that I'm not aware of? There seems to be a confusion about this online, so I'd like someone to clear my mind.

It's now an Optifine-only feature.
Mojang deliberately removed the ability to change the loading screen several versions ago with the reasoning being "we like our logo". And while that's fine and good, I know a lot of people don't appreciate the new full-screen eye-gouge red that they've since changed it to, so I'm thankful that Optifine still allows it to be changed.

Thanks for the response. Could you please tell me how can it be changed with OptiFine? Or link a page that explains it? I can't find much information about it online...

OptiFine's loading.properties only changes the world loading screen, as it says in the file: 'Controls the behaviour of the world loading screen'. That is not what I'm looking for. I'm looking for an option to change the 'mojang' loading screen of the game, although I'm beginning to understand that option has been removed for good, as OptiFine's color.properties only changes specific colors of the loading screen, and gui/title/mojangstudios only changes the displayed text.

It's very likely that this isn't possible as the game's loading screen would be displayed before a resource pack is loaded into the game. I'm not sure about switching packs since it should use whatever is loaded into memory. Even so, for game loading I doubt it's possible just on a technical level since you can't load a resource pack or mod before the game itself.

In the older versions, the mojang screen could be completely replaced by any image with the title/mojang.png file. And it worked even when loading the resource pack for the first time, so that shouldn't be a problem. The problem is, that file doesn't exist anymore and is now replaced by mojangstudios.png which doesn't change the whole screen like the old file used to. It can only change the title that says Mojang Studios. It would appear the best we can do is change the background color with optifine's color.properties and the logo with mojangstudios.png. I was looking for a way to put a completely new image there, like I used to do in the older versions.
I've seen someone do an animated mojang logo with optifine/anim, but I haven't quite investigated it yet. I'll do some tests and see if it can be used in the way that I need.

I hope that helps you.

The file name is now "mojangstudios.png"
That only changes the title though, not the full screen.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
