So my wife and I are working on making a texture pack together, I'm trying to work on the blocks and she's working on the mobs. I ran into an issue though, while the chickens have their textures working fine 100%, the Grass Block Top.png texture refuses to show up in-game!
I've gone through a check list.
The texture is spelled correctly: grass_block_top.png > I've compared everything about this file with that of Pure BD and other x256 texture pack grasses to ensure that mine is right. Dropping MY texture into their packs and loading it onto MY world gives me my textures working 100%, however when I shove it into my own texture pack folder, built from the JAR file itself, it ceases to function and vanishes. Loading a texture pack below ours, gives us that texture pack's grass.
File size: I've ensured that my textures meet the 16x standard, it is x256, but I've also lowered the resolution as low as x32, to no avail.
File type: The file is a .png, I checked, double checked, and compared it's properties to that of Pure BD and Jolicraft. Everything checks out.
I'm suspecting that there is something within the jar that I'm not getting and not the texture itself. I suspect it's the blockstates, but I'm not entirely sure. I'm at my wits end. It only affects the blocks, and not the entities, as the chicken has come out great, and MY textures load on purebd craft when I frankenstein it. I'm comparing my files to theirs, but nothing's clicking.
I'm running off of a straight vanilla 1.14.3 version, clean jar and configs as far as I know. ( I keep my modded jars and my vanilla jars in two separate areas )
Can anyone help?
EDIT AND NOTE: To any of you experiencing this issue, the problem isn't with your texture, and yes, something is missing. I haven't pinpointed it, but I did change a few things. One: I included a Version.json and a log4j2.xml at the opening of the asset. This solved my "out of date" warnings. The next thing we edited was our color maps. Apparently if you intend use custom textures, you, for some reason, have to also edit those color maps.

Is the texture in the right folder?
1.12 I believe changed some things, the textures/blocks folder changed to textures/block.
I don't know much about modded resource packs, but the number of "pack_format" in pack.mcmeta can help you get rid of the outdated warning.
