How do I edit strings away from the default in the new .json language format? Nothing I've tried is working. Another post somewhere said all you'd need is one line:
item.minecraft.music_disc_13: Music Disc: 13
I've tried many variations on this including:
"item.minecraft.music_disc_13: Music Disc: 13"
{
item.minecraft.music_disc_13: Music Disc: 13
}
{
"item.minecraft.music_disc_13: Music Disc: 13"
}
item.minecraft.music_disc_13: Music Disc: 13,
"item.minecraft.music_disc_13: Music Disc: 13",
And all variations with and without braces, quotes, commas, or the colon.
I've also tried copying the entire en_US.json file into my resource pack(with my changes) and it still only uses the default.
"You might want to have a Google to refresh your knowledge of JSON syntax.".
…
Well that was passive aggressive.
No, it didn't help because you didn't read the first post, I tried that It didn't work it still uses default. I know that code should work. It just doesn't
I still can't get this to work, I even directly copied your music disc example and nothing happened. Here is what my entire en_us.json file looks like:
{
"item.minecraft.redstone": "<disk name here>",
"item.minecraft.redstone.desc": "<disk description here>"
}
And I have checked the file location and name.
EDIT:
It seems that my code is fine, because I even pulled the en_us.json from Minecraft's root files and it still didn't work. It seems as if the game is ignoring my file for another reason.
That's because you don't need brackets for each individual song, just for the whole pack. Find a download for the default en_US.lang file and paste this where the songs are:
How can I do this kinda thing with adding a custom language? I normally use "en_CA" but I added one to be called "Sabagegah_JORY", which shows up on the menu but when I change it, it doesn't actually modify any text.
I think your issue may be that you are not supposed to use uppercase letters in 1.13. Have you tried making the name and references all lowercase?

I'd recommend MCStacker, Tellraw Generator and every other well made site for commands to everyone, no matter whether newbie or experienced commandblock-er.
Really it's not that hard to customize the name of the discs or the description of what it plays when you put it in a jukebox, but just for the sake of clarity I'll make it step-by-step so you reallywon't mess anything up.
Okay so (1) first make a folder in the resourcepacks folder, then (2) add the necessary items to make a resource pack, the assets folder and the pack.mcmeta file, inside the resourcepacks folder. the pack.mcmeta should contain at least these:
Keep in mind "pack_format": should be set to 4 for Minecraft version 1.13, and change the "desc" to whatever you want to name your resource pack.
Next (3) inside the assets folder, make a folder named minecraft. Then (4), inside the minecraft folder make two folders, lang and sounds. After that (5) inside the sounds folder, make another folder named records, this is where you're going to put your .ogg files.
Now this is where you might have gotten confused, (6) inside the lang folder, make a file named en_us.json, mind the exact spelling, then (7) open that file using a text editor - notepad would suffice - then copy the text below to your en_us.json file:
After that it should be pretty straightforward, just modify the "Music Disc" and the "C418 - 'title'" to whatever your heart desires. just make sure that it is inside the " " and that you don't remove any ",".

I can't get my custom language text to work either, could be bugged?

Problem solved, the quotes were messed up on a line, and if it's even partially messed up the whole file is ignored.

Ok, so I do exactly as you say and I can get one music disc name to change. I did this
{
"item.minecraft.music_disc_13": "Andrew Gold",
"item.minecraft.music_disc_13.desc": "Spooky Scary Skeletons"
}
It works, The label is Andrew Gold, the description says Spooky Scary Skeletons. So I continue.
{
"item.minecraft.music_disc_cat": "Smash Mouth - Astro Lounge",
"item.minecraft.music_disc_cat.desc": "All Star"
}
{
"item.minecraft.music_disc_blocks": "Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here",
"item.minecraft.music_disc_blocks.desc": "Wish You Were Here"
}
{
"item.minecraft.music_disc_chirp": "Lynyrd Skynyrd - Pronounced",
"item.minecraft.music_disc_chirp.desc": "Simple Man"
}
Now nothing works. They all have their default names. What gives?

Swap out the names for the songs you want and the names should work.
