I downloaded one texture pack made for an older version of minecraft. It works and it's awesome. Now I want to download another texture pack but it won't work! I downloaded it then I converted it into a .zip file then I went to minecraft and clicked the resource pack button it came up with the resource pack file, I put my .zip pack into that file but now the resource pack won't show up on my resource pack selection page. Please help me! I've downloaded multiple packs and done all of this yet only the one pack works! It's annoying considering that pack is kind of boring (and glitchy).

First, resource packs should ALWAYS be .zip files when you download them. If they're not, something is already horribly wrong. You should NEVER need to manipulate, convert, or unzip a resource pack to be able to use it. If you're using Chrome, this is a 'feature' that you should disable. If it's a different type of archive (.rar for instance) then you really shouldn't be downloading it for a variety of reasons. Resource packs are always .zip files.
Second, you shouldn't be putting packs into files. You should put the .zip file that you downloaded directly into your /resourcepacks/ folder with no stops in between. It almost sounds like you're massively over-complicating the process and it's screwing you up.
Beyond that, post your Minecraft version and a link to the packs you're trying to install.
If you zip a pack "from the outside", it often happens that you end up with a folder in a folder in a zip (for example" zip/prettytexturepack/prettytexturepack"). Minecraft cannot read from this double folder. To avoid this, go inside the folder; you should see a folder called "assets" and a pack.png and a pack.mcmeta; select all of those and rightclick -> add to archive. Otherwise, I can only agree with Alvoria, you shouldn't really have to do this with any downloaded texture pack.
