HI! my name is Tinagus and i have a problem , since the 1.8 change to the skulls , i allways felt uncomfortable with the "new" skins of the skulls , all of |them , since more or less a week than i´ve been trying to make a resource pack for minecraft that changes the skulls and ONLY the skulls , y ve tried |my self , i ve watched tutorials several times and nothing, when i thought-out that i was going to see the new skins for the rest of my life , i had an idea |, why dont i call for help ? how you probably already guessed i know nothing of ... resourse packing? and no one can say i didn´t tryed.
What i want to say is : PLEASE , can SOMEONE make a resourse pack that changes the skins of every skull (zombie, skeleton, creeper, wither skeleton,) if you do , i think is much more simpler than making a full texture pack , if you can but you don´t wanna do it , can you write me the way of doing it ? in the case you can , and know how to do it , but don´t want to help me , well ... at least thanks for pass by and thanks by gave me some time.
I don´t know if it´s needed a specific version of minecraft to do it , whatsoever , i play in the 1.8.9 and soon i will update to 1.9.
Let me be sure I'm understanding you on this: You want the skulls in the inventory/hand to be the 2d item sprites circa 1.7.x... correct? Because to my knowledge the mob skulls when they're placed into the world have not changed since their introduction.
If this is the case I think that it can be done fairly easily. I'll happily type up instructions for how to do that since I can't post such a pack here on the forum. (It would require redistribution of some of the Minecraft textures, which are protected by copyright)
that would help me a lot ! and yes , i just want the 2d sprites
OK, for starters I'm going to approach this with the idea that you do in fact know how to set up a resource pack since you did all of that research. So first, set up an empty pack. Just the pack.mcmeta file and an /assets/ folder. For this example I'm going to use the 1.9 format, so make sure to set the pack_format to 2 in the pack.mcmeta file. The description can be whatever you want, and a pack.png is optional.
First, go into the default files for Minecraft 1.7. Again, I'm assuming you know where to find these since getting the default is a pretty common first step in making a pack. One that we're largely going to skip over for the purposes of this pack. Navigate to /assets/minecraft/textures/items/ and look for the skull sprites. (skull_creeper.png, skull_skeleton.png, etc.) Copy all of those files.
Next, go back to your empty pack and create folders in the same order as the default: assets > minecraft > textures > items. Paste the copied files into that items folder. You're half way done!
Go back up a few levels in your pack and create another chain of folders: minecraft > models > item (Not "items". Singular item this time)
Open up the simplest text editor you can find. I STRONGLY suggest Notepad++ if you're on Windows. It's freeware, and easy to find. Copy the following code into that text file:
Save the file into the /item/ folder you just created with the file name "skull_creeper.json". (Make sure that you have "Show known file extensions" turned ON in your file manager so that you can be sure that the file extension is .json instead of ".json.txt" which will not work)
Do this four more times, changing "skull_creeper" in both the text of the file AND the file name with the following:
Note that these are the same as the names of the files you copied in the first few steps. This is intentional. Make sure you copied all five images or this isn't going to work.
Once you have all five .json files set up the pack should be complete. Move the folder to your /resourcepacks/ folder, load it up, and enjoy.
hmm , hey again ! well , i tryed to follow your steps the harder i could , but i wasn´t able to , i got the resourse pack recognized by minecraft , but once i enter the textures are a [block purple and black] , all of them (the skulls) in my resource pack i have the folder :assets>minecraft>textures>items and in that folder all the images whit the names "skull_skeleton.png" (just the one of the skeleton of course) then going back to the folder i have :assets>minecraft>models>item , and there i have "skull_skeleton.json" (again , just the one of the skeleton , the others have their respective names)
i´ve tried with "parent": "item/generated", "textures": { "layer0": "items/skull_skeleton" } and with
Would you please post a log from a session in which you tried the pack? Load the game, select the pack, close Minecraft, and then look in .minecraft/logs/ and post the contents of latest.log.
That will at least give a hint as to what's going wrong.
Also, what text editor are you using? This is a point where some people run into problems so I'd like to know. Thanks.
Oh, and just to be clear you are using 1.9... correct? This is different if done in 1.8 which is why I specified that I was walking you through the 1.9 version since you said you planned to update anyway.
well , it works for 1.9 , but not for 1.8, really thanks tho ,if is not much bother , can you tell me how to do it in the 1.8.9 ? If not , thanks for all anyways.

It's basically the same process except the .json files need to be different. Instead of the code shown above, use the following:
thanks dude ! i mean . for real ! you see , im color-blind and cant see very nicely the wither skulls in my inventory (and hunting in a nehter forth whitch is full of dark blocks is a pain) , whit this i can finally go hunting again ! (not my favorite task tho...)
PD: Actually , it was a bit hard to wrote this thing and understand you , you see , im from Argentina (we talk spanish and ONLY spanish) , if you want , you could tell me if i wrote something wrong while telling me how to close this thread.

For the most part your English was understandable. Most of the problems are simple spelling and grammar mistakes common to the internet. Had you not said anything I wouldn't have known.
If you'd like some tips, here's your post with the English cleaned up (alterations underlined):

Oh, and to close your thread you need to report your own post and ask a moderator to close it. There's no need for that though. This forum usually just leaves threads open unless there's a problem.

Sorry, sound packs aren't really my thing. It's pretty much the same as textures, make your own and put it in place of whatever you're replacing in your pack, but I know there's some fiddly stuff with it as well and I know nothing about that.
I suggest starting a new thread and asking about it there since this is kinda off-topic.
