Yeah... It still doesn't recognize it... I could try though to remove more things.... ;-;
{Edit} Ah! After deleting a bunch of stuff, As of, Textures I don't need. Lookie what I got! A Crash report! I didn't include all of it. I only got a section of it where it (Hopefully) Shows the problem. If you need the rest of the Crash... I don't know, Because It shows some personal computer info, Idk X3

Normally resource packs are in a .zip file, so what I meant by repack it is to take all the files, and place them in a new .zip file.
The crash report basically just says there is a problem with a zip file. It most likely means your zip file is corrupt (assuming you are using one for your pack), so repacking it as I described in the sentence above should fix it.
Otherwise, I would have to take a closer look at the pack to find the issue, so if you don't mind, can you give me a link to download the pack? You should be able to upload it as a .zip file to a free file host like DropBox or MediaFire. (Since you mentioned you added resources from other people's packs, you would have to send me the download link via a private message)

Okay, I'll try re-packing it. if it still crash's I will put up the download for it so you could take a look at it, I have a Trial version of WinZip and that will expire tomorrow/today (One of those) And I need to find a new Zipping/Extracting program What happened was, My resource pack worked, Then, As soon as I replaced some textures with new ones. It now just doesn't work.... I'll try re-packing it. And hopefully it works! Thank you for the help.
Oh uh... So, My game still seems to Ignore it... But What I have read... It may have been my graphics card.... I have Windows Vista, Sony, And (In my opinion) Sony Computers are the worst. (With Drivers, etc) So.... I could give you the download (In a Pm) And if it works for you... Then I guess, It may have been the Graphics card.......
Huh. Lol. I was really bored. And then I'm like. 'Omg! What if Optifine is Finally updated to 1.8.7!!' so, It was, I went to the website, Downloaded it. (After installing it) I tried, because Yolo, To open my Resource pack, And it did nothing. I went into Mineplex because I was bored... And my resource pack worked! But... A lot of the textures didn't show up... It was almost like if it only showed the small-sized textures... OoO.... XD Well anyways, Well I sort it out, I just wanted to tell you, Thanks for the help! It didn't quite fit my situation, But thanks for helping anyways!
I think I found a solution to the problem!
When you go in to the jar folder where your minecraft assets are, there should be a pack.mcmeta folder and a picture file called pack!
If you copy these in the same folder as your assets are then your resource pack should work!
If not I'm afraid I'm all out of ideas!
when i try it says "This file can't handle this type of document"

Define "it" in this context. There are many nouns in the above instructions. Which one is giving you that error, and what did you do immediately prior to getting it? Details are important in these situations. We cannot help you if we don't know exactly what you've done.
I'm having the same exact problem slivernght. I have a macOS too. It's really annoying because i wanna download a really cute texture pack called "High on Sugar" I moved the High On Sugar folder to the resource packs folder. But it comes up as a file and not a zip. I don't know what's going on. I really wanna use this texture pack too...
You need to go to your texture pack folder, open it and there should be 3 items in there. "assets" "pack.png" and "pack.mcmeta" thats how you find it. Hope it helps

What do you mean "it comes up as a file". A .zip file is a type of file.
I'm not sure which browser you use, but for some reason certain browsers automatically unpack .zip files upon download. You really should disable this 'feature', but barring that if this is what's happening you just need to put all of the files that it unzips into (an /assets/ folder, pack.png, and pack.mcmeta) into a regular folder within your /resourcepacks/ folder. (So for example /resourcepacks/highOnSugar/assets/...)
Not sure if I'm understanding you correctly, but I hope I've helped you and that you have a very Happy Christmas.
I have a similar problem I can't get resource packs to open I play MC go to option then resource pack then my Minecraft crashes I don't know how to fix it but I hope you can get help and that you can get some people liking the resource pack you made

If your game crashes, post a crash report. Help us to help you!
I made my own resource pack, it worked fine for me for quite some time, until one day it just stopped appearing on the list! Can anyone help? :/
"Help! A thing happened and I don't know why!"
I swear if I had a dollar for every time someone has posted in this thread asking for aid with an unknown problem they don't feel the need to give any useful information on I'd have enough to... well... at least indulge in a Steam sale or two.
But seriously, please post DETAILS. If you can do so without breaking anyone's copyright, post the entire pack. If you can't, give as much information as you can. What version of Minecraft did you make it for originally? Have you changed anything in your Minecraft installation? What have you done on your own to try to fix the problem? Etc. etc. Please help us to help you!
I have successfully made several resource packs in the past, all of which were created using a template. However, I'm running into a problem making one now: I will duplicate a resource pack to make a few tweaks (or use the template for a brand new one), but if I change even one character in the pack.mcmeta, preserving the syntax perfectly, it won't show up. If I put it in without changing the mcmeta, it shows up and works fine. Any idea what's going on? (I'm using a Macbook Pro, if that makes any difference.)

I think the issue is you broke something. As for what, I cannot tell you unless you actually post the code you used.

Most likely the problem is that your editor isn't preserving the encoding of the pack.mcmeta. Make sure that's it's saving it as "UTF-8 without BOM" in whichever options menu governs that in the software of your choice. Also make sure to disable "Smart Quotes" and any other such advanced features in your editor.
If worse comes to worse, modify a pack.mcmeta file and put it up for download so we can analyze it and see what's wrong.
You have a unicode quotation mark right before "splashland" (the curly quote, as opposed to straight ones elsewhere), you need a plain text one for it to work. As a quick fix you can just copy/paste a normal one from another part of the text file, though if you plan on working with other .mcmeta files in resource packs, you either need to find a way to disable the automatic unicode quotation marks, or you can download a text editor that does not add such quotation marks (such as Notepad++, which is good for overall coding).

I'll duplicate one of my resource packs to demonstrate.
This is the mcmeta code before:
And after, making the S lowercase:
I see no difference other than the one letter.
I would totally upload the files so you can check, but I have no idea how.I'll put the original and edited files on MediaFire sometime tomorrow afternoon.
