I want to make pink leaves like sakura trees, but if I change the color of the leaves it looks too dark orange. I tried adjusting colors but dont get any good result.
By the way, I dont want to change the biome color, because I need only the leaves with that pink color. So, can someone tell me what color do I have to put so in the game they look soft pink? Thanks in advance!
This is because minecraft precolors the trees, based on biome color. If you don't want to use the biome pallete like you said, you can make the pallete entirely white and it will not apply any biome color. Basically, it overlays a color on the grayscale leaf image based on biome.
I'm not sure, but you may need mcpatcher depending on the leaf type.
Need any more help?
Thanks, I almost have the color I want playing with green, blue and red with the image editor. I guess I have to investigate about that biome color thing
Still, too opaque, dead, greyish, I need to give it more light, not easy :s
OK, in vanilla Minecraft there are two files that affect biome coloring. In 1.6.x, they are are the two files in the /colormap/ folder. Namely, foliage.png and grass.png
The file named foliage.png affects the colors of oak and jungle leaves. To change how a color looks in each biome, consult This Template and change the corresponding pixels accordingly.
Now, what about spruce and birch leaves? Well, they're hard-coded by the game. You're always going to have that overlay color in vanilla Minecraft and there's nothing that you can do about it... except use MCPatcher. In /assets/minecraft/mcpatcher/ there's another "/colormap/" folder. In it you can add files called "birch.png" and "spruce.png" that follow the same template as above. Keep in mind that only people who use MCPatcher (or maybe Optifine, not sure) will see the colors correctly if you use this method.
Hope that helps you.
This was from a different topic that was bumped just a little while ago! Lucky. Hope this helped!
@alvoria hope you don't mind!
Im really trying but no result :s I found those folders and added my modified birch.png but nothing, Im also using MCPatcher but I am modifying Faithfull32 not the default texpack. I also added my birch.png in the texpack, main folder, and MCPatcher folders, nothing...

The directory for your colormap should be .../assets/minecraft/mcpatcher/colormap/birch.png. It has to be 256x256 for it o work. If the folders don't exist, you can create them.
Make sure that you are patching minecraft with mcpatcher, not your resource pack!
is there a way you could put the exact file and directory that you had because i want the exact same thing you have, it looks amazing and i want it for a japanese-themed world
You dont need MCPatcher for this. Just change the leave texture & then make the "foliage.png" colormap all white. (Granted this will also make all the other leaves not have a biome colormap, but still)

but I want something more light pink like this, the actual png image I have edited, and doesn't look like that

Happy to help.
It's up there somewhere, you just had to look.
/PackName/assets/minecraft/mcpatcher/colormap/birch.png
I *think* he means the actual file download... Could be wrong.
Thanks for the help on whitening the foilage.png. I had the EXACT same problem, ironically with sakura leaves as well.
You need to enable "Custom Colors" on there
