I've been trying to update a resource pack so that I have custom textures for certain mods. I've found the textures I want, but I have no idea where to put these textures in the texture pack so that the game will load them properly. If anyone can tell me what to do or create a tutorial on how to make this work I know that a lot of people like me would be grateful.
Actually no. I have the resource pack i want (ie: sphax 32x resource pack for 1.6.2) I have a mod installed (ie: metallurgy 3) and I have the mod textures patch from the sphax website. I want to know where I put the textures from the patch file into the resource pack so that they load in game. I have tried to do this several times, but I can't get the textures to load properly (EX: iron is textured sphax but copper is default textured)
Depending on the mod, you should be able to just drag the mod textures into your resource pack file. Some mods might require a little extra work, but it's usually just a simple drag and drop.
EDIT: Doesn't BDcraft.net have instructions on how to install the mod patches? Or at least somewhere in the thread?
there are instructions in the mod patch .zip, but I suspect they are outdated. I've tried dragging the textures in folder, out of folder, and to other folders, but nothing seems to work. Don't know what I'm doing wrong....
According to some thread I found on google, the textures should be in /assets/<domain>/<blocks|items>. Is that where you're putting them? They shouldn't be in /asstes/minecraft.
Tried to do this too. I see that the files names are altered for 1.6. e.g "ironore" becomes "ore_iron" so all the files in the mod add-on packs would have to renamed, so it won't matter where you put them until the filenames are changed. TextureRender will alter a base pack but not any add-ons . I've given up and am waiting for SoarTex to make their way thru all the mods there: so far they have only finished 5 I think. Their patcher is a great tool for 1.5. in the meanwhile.
You have to go into the mod (if you're using forge, it's as simlple as going to the mod's .zip file) and find the "assets" folder. From there, you take each texture and add it into the appropriate folders (ex. armor textures go into the armor folder, etc.). That's the only way I got mine to work.I suppose I should mention how I figured this out. It was bothering me, too, that I couldn't figure it out. Then I remembered that I recently edited a default texture from another mod (the ship marker from the Archimedes Ship Mod) and I got the texture's original file from the mod's folders, not the texture pack's, and that's where I had to save the new textures.
Go to your resource packs assets folder and make a folder with the correct name. (For Forge, go into your mod's .zip and fu=ind the assets folder, then the name of the folder inside of that. That's your name.) Inside the folder, make folders like "blocks", "items", etc as you see in the mod's assets/<name>/ .

Hope this helped, if it didn't PM me.
