I'm trying to use NBTEditor to make swords more powerful. When I go to players>(myplayername)>inventory, it shows all three swords that are in my inventory, but it shows the damage as 0 and when I change it, save it, and go to minecraft, the damage is the default value. Also, the damage is 0 the next time I go to that item in NBTExplorer. Does anyone know how to make this work correctly?
Are you editing the damage dealt by the sword, or the item's damage value? If you edit the damage value of an item to one that doesn't exist, it will revert to the default when you open the world. I discovered this the hard way.
There are multiple tags stored on items, and the "Damage" tag usually refers to the item's level of wear, not the damage dealt by the item.
