So, for my resource pack, I want to make a tool add a bit of texture depending on enchantments (so if a sword has sharpness, it will have some color at the tip, or change the blade shape). Is there any way to "add" a bit of texture on top of the current item texture, and if this is possible, can you stack multiple overlayed textures? This would be useful to know as I really don't want to make a different texture for every tool, for every possible enchantment combination

EDIT: I am fine with using optifine
There used to be in McPatcher, but it was never implemented in Optifine. Currently there's no way to do this, much to my personal chagrin because I did something similar with my own pack.
As it is, you'll just need to make a unique texture for every enchantment, and every combination of enchantments if you can get that to work.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
