Not an official entry of course, but I've still been experimenting with the palette. Assuming you find the right colours, you seem to get a great effect. It just requires a lot of tinkering and exploring of different colours. :3

Woah, hella contrast.
Your sand(?) is extremely bright in comparison to everything else. I find that sand with really strong, binary 'dune' patterns like that tends to be quite an eyesore in deserts. Maybe reduce the contrast on them

Why are you blending colors?
Alright, thanks for the feedback. I'll see if I can fix that. :3
And yeah, PitF_Cherry, you seem to be blending colours instead of using the presets.
EDIT: On second note, the sand I have done seems to be the most easy and simple on the eyes, and any other combinations kill it. >u<
Even, like, removing the lightest color? Or the darkest ones?
I could, but that might prove problematic as it would cause the texture to fit in even less with the others, the others having around >5 shades/colours. I feel it will be seen differently when actually viewed in game. ^^
Transparencies only really apply for transparent blocks like water and such. You can't layer colours using transparencies, because it alters the actual colour. :c
Is it just me or does it look a lot like the 'Chromey' pack I did for SPS3? Wasn't my intention either way.
I realized after the fact that some of these aren't naturally generated... but stuff like planks is kind of essential anyway. And I spent way too much time on that iron block to let it go to waste.
I would kill to see this pack completed, reminds me of the NES.
I think I might give this a try I am going to start school soon, and I will be very busy from then. So I'm not sure I can complete anything, but I'll definitely try
I couldn't come up with anything I liked using the palette, so I shall be stepping down from this challenge/contest. Best of luck to the rest of the participants!

No problem. I'll have you removed from the list now. ^^
So I've been working on a few things, and this is what I've got
Wow. Very impressed. This is something I'd actually use daily. I'm really looking forward to seeing more from you, should you create any more textures. :3
Hehe, thanks. Oh, and your first contest? Wishing you luck then! Not that I wasn't anyway. ^u^

Your usage of greens is really clever, almost looks like a normal texture with some compression artefacts. Grass looks awesome
It took me at least an hour or 2 of re-doing my oak planks to get a feel and theme that I was going to go for. Just experiment
@Ringoster
Thanks I really do like mixing in colours that would normally not be there. It makes it look a little more interesting
Hmmm...
everytime i experiment it just look like grabage:(

Don't worry. Just do what you feel is right. Sounds corny, but it's what I always go by. ^^
