So a new set of 1.9 snapshots was released recently, and with it came a ton of changes to the game. One that particularly interested me was a change made to boats - how they work, look and behave. I believe these changes will be highly appreciated by the community, as boats can now be controlled easier, do not wiggle around when interacting with other entities, and so can now be quite useful as chair placeholders in vanilla game. The only thing that irritates me af is its model. The boards on different sides are uneven in size, and those oars on the sides are just ugly when it comes to interior design. My question is: is there a way to change the model back to how it was pre-1.9? Are there any resource packs utilizing old boats or something? Need help

No. Resource packs can't change the model of an entity. A pack could however make part of an entity model invisible, for instance make the oars invisible. I don't know of one that does, but it would be easy.

No. For the time being, entity models are still hard-coded into the game. The best you can do is just omit the ores when you do your own re-texturing and learn to live with (and love) the unevenness and the size. I mean, the size IS necessary to accommodate a passenger so, ya know, it's kind of important visually.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
well actualy, 1.9 does allow custom modeling to mobs look at this image below. it uses a resource pack and command blocks for a cool ghast boss like the ur-ghast from twilight forest. in the video i saw on it says something about it using a giant zombie, could mean that the boss is a remodeled giant zombie and command blocks summoning the fireballs

You are a wonderful source of bad information, aren't you? It's the command blocks that are giving the appearance of an altered model, when in fact this is not the case. The resource pack is only used to change the texture, not the model. The giant zombie has always been in the game, and is being used as part of the mechanism. These are command block tricks, but have nothing to do with changing the actual model used by the game.
Regardless, my statement stands. Resource packs cannot change models currently.
im not trying to give false information, im just giving the information that i know about the game and sometimes there wrong or changed, there is allot i know about the game, and allot more i dont know. i have only played for about 2 or 3 years and i dont have the same knowhow of the game you do Alvoria.
