I remember someone on this forum saying "that's like if you were a writer and asking people what kind of novel you should write". It doesn't really work that way. Just think of a theme and/or style and stick with it.
Heya, that was me! Coincidentally, I was just about to reply to this thread.... but I was using google/mcf search to go through my posts and it wasn't working.... until I just went into my repped history and it wasn't far back. So it does have a use!
It doesn't work that way. That's like saying "hey guys, I'm gonna write a novel, what should it be about?"
If you have an idea already, and you WANT to make a pack, then do it. If you don't, there's no point in asking what, because if you wanted it you obviously would have an idea that caused that in the first place, unless you aren't really serious on the endeavor and just think "it would be cool".
The best way to get ideas is to play the game with no resource pack for months, get a feel for vanilla textures and by doing so learn what you dislike. Start out small, editing and replacing textures you don't like, until you have grown as an artist, redo your old textures while fine-tuning your style, etc. You shouldn't release this pack (not in the main pack section, WIP might be fine) until you've worked on it for years, trust me, I know. A bad release doesn't seem to be something you can recover from especially when making many changes to the pack.
Note: Making a good resource pack is a serious task. There are TONS of textures in vanilla, redoing all of them is somewhat expected by many people, ESPECIALLY if you have a themed pack or a style drastically different than vanilla or even just a different resolution. Then there are sounds, language files, shaders, models, and CTM (mod feature) that can add to the experience of your pack.
So yeah, you got the gist of it without the wall of text. But it's here now.

I want to make a new resource pack I have already made a few but never ended up releasing them.
Does anyone have any idea's on what type of resource pack I should make?
Yes, this question is asked somewhat often, but I always seem to re-write a reply... well not today.
