I have decided to post this because I was interested in the complete lack of support and changes to the super secret settings. I think that these shaders have incredible potential but I found that a lack of information was upsetting.
If you are going to create your own here are some useful links. If enough people begin using custom shaders it will incourage mojang to expand the capabilities allowing better vanilla shaders. (better resource pack effects)
Actually the tutorial you linked too is also good. I might also link to it in the "The All-Inclusive UPDATED Guide to Texturing" page.(I just haven't finished reading the whole post).

Yeah the only problem though is that the member is no longer active on MC Forums or Bukkit. grar could probably answer any questions related to those though.

Oh, I didn't know he was no longer active. I should of check if he was or not. So in that case, you are correct in that grar could answer any questions any one has.
