Do resource packs with the loot_table folder in it override vanilla ones? Would I be able to make my own loot tables and use them via a resource pack?
And has anyone played around with the recipes? I think they're a great addition, they're simple .json files and can be made to have custom crafting recipes. I wonder if they too can be used via resource packs.
Hey all, it's been a long while since I last posted here, and I hope to be able to get back into texturing soon. I've decided to continue working on this, which I'd started during the Simple Pack Showdown 3, but then stopped because of real life things.
Anyways, here are a couple things that I created recently/a while ago, but never actually shared:
Just a large mish-mash really (from upper left to bottom right): cobblestone, oak plank, jungle plank, mossy cobblestone, spruce plank, and jungle log. Thinking of naming it either Nautilus or Cinnamon Roll when (if) I'm done, but leaning towards Cinnamon Roll.

I like the idea of Cinnamon Roll too. Conjures images of warm, soft, and sweet which is the vibe I get when I see these textures.
Did the doors for my new pack. Not keen on fancy model stuff, so the frames are all 12px wide on either side so as to look good (vanilla has 3px wide door frames, in 64x that's 12px). The slots below the iron door window are meant to be a ten-digit combination lock with a confirmation button.
Been making a lot of progress recently, 6 colours per material is working out quite well actually.
Larger version in spoiler, in case you want to take a closer look.
The good thing about consoles is that its much easier, you know the configuration wount change, you know that everyone has the same hardware, so you can optimize the hell out of it

I like their idea, but you have to copy the loot_table folder into your Minecraft save file, it is not actually loadable through a Resource Pack.
As for the rest of you Resource Pack authors on this thread, I would greatly appreciate if you voiced your opinion on my suggestion thread:

About adding Loot Tables and Recipes to the Resource Pack contents.
Managed to get an official response from Dinnerbone on the topic:

Anyone experience this rendering issue where water blocks are very visible in snow fall?

Items, I made golden apple too, the apple has been slightly altered since I made this showcase image.
Looks like a "depth based transparency" issue. Nearly every single game suffers from this to some degree.
Basically the transparency of the water is considered to be "in front" of the snow, so its transparency takes precedence over the other.
Similar to this:
Cast aside your festive doylaks: dragon stuff is about to happen.
Multiplayer is lonely once you understand how it actually works.

Jingle bells, decay and fails
The adventurers all died of fright.
Dungeons night, was never right
When the lich came in a sleigh.

I left the regular enderman texture blank, and just used the enderman_eyes texture, I made the opacity 50/255.

@Teknician
Stunning work man!
Anyone know of other programs besides Cubik Studio that can create usable .jpm files for Custom Entity Models for Optifine?
