I disagree, I think it adds a nice contrast.I do think the dither/shade colour on the cobble is too dark though. It's almost identical to the next darkest shade.
Yeah, half problem with the palette I'm using. Redid the dither colour, added in a side for a workbench and fixed the bookshelf. Ignore the block above the workbench side, just a failed try at sandstone.
Make sure it tiles
Not flat, unless intended
Not too high or low contrast
Fits theme, if there is one
Somewhat similar to both vanilla texture, and crafting recipe/recognizable
NOT pillow shaded!
idk what else, there probably is more to consider
Pillow shading is sort of just, putting dark going in from the edges, without respecting the actual forms of things, or the direction of light. Ideally shading helps describe the form.
If you are shading some tiny embossed details, it's fine to shade them like that, cause they have a flat nature, but overall it's kind of fuzzy and bland.
Man, guys, those photorealism packs lack some styyyyle. But I am biased with my retro fetish.
Goddamn it fishy, I kept +1ing all the posts you made with the improvements on the banner because each improvement is what I was going to suggest too... Y u do dis?

I think it's also general laziness much like the whole bucket fill issue. But to those who actually take the time to make their own photos, or actually research for 'open source' photography, or even go for the rare paint it them dang selves I salute you!
I can feel the retro love, can't hate on the ol' school, can't hate one bit
Fishy... WHEWWWW Day--- yum. That is a tasty flag... be wary of wandering Zoidbergs!
Finally got back to work on some textures for Triton over the past few days;
Yellow Wool, Heavily tweaked Bedrock, Iron Block, Spruce leaves, Stone, Glowstone, Birch leaves, and Oak leaves. You can see stone bricks and cobble in the background as well, but they aren't really any different from before. Also did a bunch of placeholder recolors for the logs and planks that aren't really worth taking a pic of.
Mostly trying for a sharper, more detailed look, like the fancy-looking stone bricks and dirt I posted a while back (which are in the pack now)
Quick little build I did to showcase some of the new textures:
The main issue is conflicting styles. You've got this massive canvas, with a really detailed texture, and then the contrast of almost zero shading and toes that are flat colour. Also, the teeth are really flat, and I can't tell if the eyes are embedded or embossed.
Wow! you've added a lot of detail to it from the last time i saw it. I really like those, i think the glowstone is my favorite with the really sharp crystal forms. Is that stonebrick the cracked version or are you going to make the normal stonebrick with a little cracks too? Because i like the hammered and worn look everything has!
Yep, that's normal stone brick. The cracked one will be even more battered and worn looking than that.
@Ringoster, Great work! I really like that iron block. I think the spruce leaves might need some mild highlights though, they don't have as much depth as everything else. Keep this up it's developing into an exceptional resource pack.
Yeah, I'll probably add some extra highlights to the needle tips. -Sigh-... so many needles to shade...
I tweaked a couple of the ores and made some new textures, including: Hopper, Hopper top, gold block, all wool blocks. The left ores are the new ones.
Hmm.. I kinda like the old ones better, actually. The actual 'ore' part of the ores seems a little small, though, especially with the Lapis. Could be easy to miss while mining.
i didn't really show much stuff in the last time and I am not very motivated to keep on working on my texture pack (mostly because I don't play as much Minecraft anymore) The fact that my Notebook is a dying toast doen not help my work either (will be replaced soon )
Since there was not a lot of feedback to my last updates i wanna ask if any of you would miss my pack? Who of you guys is using it? If some guys like it I can put out a couple more updates, if not I feel its better to put work into other stuff.
Anyway thanks for all of the support and the kind words.

The pack is very well made, although I think most artists here use their own packs, including me.

Nether Quartz Ore looks GREAT!!!
Pillow Shaded??? Please explain.
Edit:
Oh, that's what pillow shading is

Turned out mighty well though!

Just a little filler for the time being, I will start working on my pack soon, I have finals that I need to finish in school.
The pack is very well made, although I think most artists here use their own packs, including me.
Quoted from Meringue - Too bad i own and have to use PS (at work) - it's clunky and i hate it..
(Ignore the brown smudge, I already fixed it)
In-game:
Everything but the sides is seamless.
Old:
stone, prismarine, bedrock, iron, gold, netherrack, quartz ore

New andesite, diorite, granite, and smooth varients, as well as prismarine, all following DB32 as usual.
Tiled 2x2, with a 2x zoom.
