If you require aid with Custom NPC's give me a shout (In the thread, not PM's). I can read a bit of error reports, know most of the NPC workings (I'm attempting to work on scripting) and have been using it since its 1.0 version. Otherwise I'll help with any questions or problems I can.
I'm trying to get the vertical CTM working again in 1.8 on my stained glass. I have it working with several other blocks, but i think my matchBlocks line is wrong

Hello, I'm brand new to everything related to connected textures. I've fallen in love with Misa's texture pack, and unfortunately it's been unsupported for quite some time now, as I'm sure you're all well aware. My main problem is that blocks are connecting vertically and horizontally, but not on the top of the blocks. They used to in older versions of Minecraft, but not in newer releases. Here is an example of what I'm talking about.
Currently, the .properties file for the sand reads:
height=4
tiles=64-79
width=4
method=repeat
This results in jumbled, discontinuous block textures on the top surface of blocks, but smooth, flowing connected textures on the sides of blocks in horizontal and vertical directions. I've tried using the face=all method, and others, but to no avail. It's probably that I'm just brand new and don't yet know what I'm doing. Any advice or possible solutions to this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thank you,

Thank you so very much kwerti! Who knew that a simple switch in the settings could make such a huge impact! If only I'd tried that sooner. Your texture pack by the way is amazing!
I want to personally thank kwerti for his post. I recently decided to migrate my WIP Tron Texture Pack/Mod and have a grid theme. As you might guess, it seriously threw me off to see that suddenly all my CTM Maps were not showing grids, but rather extremely jumbled mish-mash. Turning "Alternate Textures" -> OFF prevented hours of me beating my head against a brick wall trying to figure out what had "changed" for CTMs. Thank you x 10000
While we're talking about weird new developments in CTM - has anyone else noticed that renderpass does not seem to work anymore? I was doing some really cool things with renderpass=2 for certain blocks and that seems to now render my textures invisible.
Hey, I am making a connected crafting_table_top tile texture but I am having issues getting it to work in the Notepad document. Anyone know how I could fix this?
The connected crafting_table_top textures are right here.
This is what I have so far in the Notepad document:
How would I get around using CTM in 1.7? I'm trying to use a different texture for a birch fence, but it won't show up. It works just fine with a regular fence called block85 even in 1.7, but block ID's don't exist in Minecraft now. Is there a list of block ID's or something used by CTM in 1.7?

KR1, in 1.7 there was no birch fence. It's a 1.8+ object, all fence were the same 1.7 and before.

This is what I have so far in the Notepad document:
You're looking for horrizontal or vertical method, not the ctm method. The ctm method will need all 48 tiles set up to work for each possible connection. The vertical or horrizontal will need a Solitary texture, Two end textures and one middle texture. Also you won't need to use 'connect=tile' It'll automatically connect with itself.
All of the info on the horrizontal and vertical methods are in the op I believe.
Hey, I was wondering if anyone knows how to get the CIT part of MCPatcher to work? CIT is a way that allows certain textures to replace the original in specific conditions. For example, if you had a Diamond Sword with Sharpness enchant on it, it would change the texture of the sword because of that specific enchant applied to the object. I've heard there are ways to make this work, but I've also heard that it has been removed and does not work anymore. Anyone have any tips for CIT? Thanks!
Here is what I have so far in the Notepad document:
type=item
items=diamond_sword
texture=test (This part in parenthesis is not currently in the document. "test" is the name of the texture that is supposed to appear for sharpness sword)
enchantmentIDs=16
Thanks thecrazydudesrd. I'll test it out and let you know if I am still having issues. I am also trying to do something similar with End Portal Frames.
I'll give it a shot.
It didn't work. I've really no clue what I've done wrong. I used the same methods for the night time sky and it works fine.
Anything obviously wrong with this...

It's "faces=sides"
Putting the CENDENT back in transcendent!
OK, thanks that gets me a little closer.
Now it works for Glass blocks only, and only the MCPatcher. Nothing with Optifine.
And oddly enough "face=side" worked for both in 1.7

Glass panes cannot have the "faces" property specified in 1.8.
Putting the CENDENT back in transcendent!
Ah, thanks, that makes sense.
EDIT:
I made it work by copying Chroma Hills. Turns out for some reason that there more cross-compatability if you put each color in a subfolder.

The connected crafting_table_top textures are right here.

Any tips?

Gosh dang it, you're right. How would I do so in 1.8 then?
In 1.8 you'd use the new naming format that sorta looks like this
matchBlocks=[block name ie:minecraft:Birch_Fence]:[insert blockstates here]
Thanks for the help

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

texture=test (This part in parenthesis is not currently in the document. "test" is the name of the texture that is supposed to appear for sharpness sword)
enchantmentIDs=16

This is supposed to allow the texture of the diamond sword to change into another texture when it is enchanted with sharpness. Am I doing this right?
Thanks thecrazydudesrd. I'll test it out and let you know if I am still having issues. I am also trying to do something similar with End Portal Frames.
Ok thecrazydudesrd, I have tried and I still am not able to get this to work. xD
Here's what I have in the Notepad document:
matchTiles=crafting_table_top
method=horizontal
tiles=1-3
But they still do not seem to connect. Maybe should I put "matchTiles=crafting_tabe" and "faces=sides?"
All I just need: how to create overlays, so I can put flowers on top of the grass. Or there's a method for that?
