I have a idea for present a set of templates for skinning mobs.I creating papercraft generators and take the same information as php files and some templates like a Pigman, Pig zombie and Zombie ghast, spider eye all are the standard character template.
I made my own texture pack for testing parts of these templates, so when I play for research I have techno-colored mods wandering around. :tongue.gif:
if you have all the big items like the boat and cart in your texture pack test, you should send it into a post so others may be able to figure out the anoying .png files

I have my PHP data for the boat, cart and sign. The boat and cart data include ASCII art of the layouts of the parts too:
(Ignore the 'include "boxes.php";', I was working towards papercraft generators that would be generic enough to be applied to any texture pack.)

The terrain.php is a work in progress, I've collected some of the boxes together but haven't had time to finish it lately. All of the mobs from Minecraft 1.2 are there, some of the files include the data from other files where the data is duplicated (like from the character to the zombie.)
I also included my boxes.php which has handy functions for grouping parts together to make papercraft template images.
Original post updated to include Wolf template and links to collected files.
lol, you were ninja'd twice
Meh, duplicated efforts and they don't have some pieces labelled, like the base and tip of the tail. Also the back of the muzzle in the texture files has a few pixels that run off what is actually used (the last column of pixels on the right of the muzzle texture is not used, not that you would see them anyway.)
I was busy having fun with the update and I forgot to do updates myself. :smile.gif:
For the most part all the files follow one of two simple patterns:
[*:m8aq6mnx]Top, Bottom, Right, Face, Left, Back
[*:m8aq6mnx]Face, Back, Right, Bottom, Left, Top

My comment wasn't meant to be harmful :tongue.gif:
I was looking at the papercraft wolf and I noticed the muzzle of the wolf was only 3 pixels long. So, I loaded up Minecraft, Paint.NET and 7-zip and went to work to find out what was going on.
Depending on which way the wolf is looking, the muzzle sticks out 3 to 3.5 pixels from the head.
Also, depending on which way the cow is looking, the horns are shifted left or right on the head (As noted on Getsatisfaction.com.)
Is the spider map right? It seems like yours is laid out a little differently to the in game one.
Some of the texture files in the game extend beyond what is actually used. I took many screenshots of each of the mobs and also used the templates as skins for the mobs to verify exactly what pixels are used in the skins.
