Transition icons are not unused, they are BROKEN. In the update they added Withers (and wither hearts) they stopped working. They worked in 1.2.5 and before. There is a Mojira issue for it.
Reticule- The texture space is not centered on the screen. However, even how default has it isn't centered. I made a Mojira issue for it long ago. (in fact, it doesn't even seem like you can have a perfectly centered reticule without going to a higher resolution-because the centering is not moved over 16x sized pixels)
Please support these issue so they may be fixed, however due to how small of issues (yet how easily they could be fixed) I doubt Mojang would even fix it if they knew.

I knew about the transition icons (since you told me last time)... I suppose I worded it badly? I should correct that. Although it is nice to know the exact version.
Didn't exactly know about the cursor, although it makes sense: Minecraft is drawn in pixels, and I supoose that is the one known as 0,0 in the code. So if they moved it to the middle (instead of to, say 0,1) that would move the whole grid (and therefore screen) also. I don't know if you could program it differently, but it would take some effort... Anyway, I should mention it also. Can I use your image? I'll credit you!
But nonetheless, thanks for proofreading it again, lol.
No problem! I'm a little surprised that it was noticed there. Thanks for being dedicated

Well, "unused" makes it sound like it never worked, which isn't the case. Since it's broken, it was a once-working feature that, in the future, should be fixed.
The reitucle- I don't think it would really be that hard. They already have menu buttons centered. Seems like they could find the center pixel of the horizontal resolution (since there *is no* true center pixel, bottom-right pixel that is within the center pixels) , find the center of horizontal display resolution and place the texture there. Then offset the texture (left) of half of its display resolution. Same with the vertical. That's how it seems like you'd do it if the image's anchor point is at 0,0.
The image: Sure, use it. It's from my Morija issue, there's also a screenshot of the cursor as-seen from the pause menu, which shows that if the menu is centered, the cursor is not. Please link to the Mojira issues I linked you to, so more people can see them and vote.

Good point about the reticule. I hadn't thought of that. (Personally it doesn't bother me, but I may as well mention it.)
And yesh, I will link to the issues. Thanks for letting me use the image. I probably won't be updating the GUIde for a bit yet, though.
Great guide! A little suggestion for improvement though, made from own bad experience: Please mention at the start of the guide that most GUI files do not support semi-transparency.
Some do. The book for example supports semi-transparency up to a threshold.
That's why I said "most", not "all" xD The widgets.png does too for example.
The point I was trying to make was simply: It would've saved me a lot of work if that info was at the top of the guide instead of somewhere in the middle
Ah, OK. I kinda mis-read your post because it was pretty much the first thing I saw after waking up.
So I have a personal resource pack that I made in 1.6 (ish) And I've updated to the latest snapshot only to find that the icon for locking game difficulty is completely blank. I checked all of the texture files in my pack and the Minecraft .bin but I can't seem to find it. Can anyone help me with this?
Thats because you wont find the textures inside the .bin folder or in your pack files. The .jar file for the game has been moved sense 1.5.
What you need to do is go open up the .jar in either winrar or winzip for the version of minecraft you want C:\Users\-WHATEVER YOUR SYSTEM NAME IS-\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\versions\14w04a\14w04a.jar (if your on pc)
and drag out the whole assets folder to where ever. Then you can look though the files and see what changed,
Thusly, sense the lock is part of the default GUI, where do you think it is?
Tada! Locks in the widgets.png! Just copy them and any other changes over to your pack and edit them as you please.
You said that resource packs don't work when zipped up. I have never found that to be the case; every resource pack I've used since 1.6 has worked fine without unzipping. Perhaps the one you tested had the folder sent into the zip, not the contents of that folder.
This guide has been included in the "The All-Inclusive UPDATED Guide to Texturing" page. Thank you for creating a great guide about all the GUI textures.
The section you are mention in, is here. It's under the GUI spoiler(which is alittle bit down).

Whew, posts! Yeah I haven't been playing Minecraft for a while and I kinda forgot about this guide, so I don't know what's been changed since 1.6 (or was it 1.5?). This does need updating and I'm sorry for the lack of attention I've given it. If anyone could point out any inaccuracies or missing stuff, I'll add in the corrections soon as I can.
E: Oh, hey, looks like this is my 200th post, too.

Welcome back! I've found this guide to be very useful.
The enchanting GUI now has new parts, there's new widgets, new streaming and spectator stuff, server selection, and new stuff in the inventory. Maybe something else.
Something that bugs me about the guide is that everything is in spoilers and the labels aren't obvious. Most i can figure out, with a little thought, but it is still annoying to have to decode the pun or allusion to find the right section, and it would be a lot harder for some who shares less of the same cultural or chronological background.

I was looking at the section titles and I was actually thinking the same thing. I think I will put them in the spoilers and a more indicative title above the spoilers. Until I do that, the table of contents is clearly labelled.
Here is some help with updating & other information:
---Changes---
1) Changes have been made to the "achievement_background.png" file in the "/achievement" folder. (4 small arrows added, below the achievement pop-up box)
2) Changes have been made to the "enchanting_table.png" file in the "/container" folder.
3) In the "/title" folder, the "mojang.png" file has been changed (also since 1.7.4, this file can't be changed)
4) Changes have been made to the "widgets.png" file. (Added a new difficulty lock textures)
---Additions---
(Textures that have been added)
1) A new "/presets" folder which contains images for the presets in the new "Customized" world generator.
1a) chaos.png (used for the "Caves of Chaos" preset)
1b) delight.png (used for the "Caver's Delight" preset)
1c) drought.png (used for the "Drought" preset)
1d) isles.png (used for the "Isle Land" preset)
1e) luck.png (used for the "Good Luck" preset)
1f) madness.png (used for the "Mountain Madness" preset)
1g) water.png (used for the "Water World" preset)
2) Added the "sever_selection.png" file in the base of the "/gui" folder.
3) Added the "spectator_widgets.png" file in the base of the "/gui" folder.
4) Added the "stream_indicator.png" file in the base of the "/gui" folder.
---Helpful Info---
1) In the "widgets.png" file, the red circles with the numbers & the exclamation point, the letters, & the big Red, Green, & Grey circles are used for Minecraft Realm. Most of the textures can be figured out easily using this page.

That should be just about all I need, thank you. I'll have a poke around in the files today and see if I can see anything else.
Ok, have fun
