Hey guys. I've been away for a while for personal reasons, and it's safe to say that I probably won't be coming back. Kyctarniq has my permission to maintain the map and start a new thread which can be found here.
I'm glad this map has become so widely used by texture artists and video reviewers, maintaining it was a joy. Keep the feedback coming for Kyctarniq - it's not the easiest thing in the world to arrange every block and texture in the game. I've had a few moments myself where I've released a version missing an obvious block like dirt, grass, glass, or glowstone.
Happy mining, lots of diamonds.
The map is free to use and modify, and if you love your modification, you can post it here and I may adopt it.
I guess I should also mention it's made for RC2. Things might get strange in 1.8. I don't know, haven't tried.
I threw that texture pack I'm working on at, it works fine in 1.8.1 but the 1.9 stuff will naturally vanish. If you're using it in 1.8 be sure to keep a backup, heh.
anyways, I quite like the nice wealth of basic structures often made with these blocks, as it really saves time on testing blocks in actually production usage. As much as the test track is for demonstrating your blocks in general, I never actually liked it at all because as mentioned, it doesn't actually give you a feel for how your blocks work. I find it more convenient to just throw my textures (or others!) at things I've already made and gotten an idea for how the blocks work together, heh.

My sentiments exactly. I'm still looking for ways to improve on it, if you've got any thoughts.
I downloaded this map, and it's actually pretty nice, though there are a few things I would like to see. One thing I never see in a texture pack test track, is mob pens, like a barn or something showcasing the mob textures. I would also like to see an art gallery of some sort showcasing the paintings.
I also saw a few "typos" on the signs. You labeled the yellow flower as a white flower, and the
sky portal at the end is actually endstone.
Other than that this is a great map, one of the best I've seen. Keep up the great work :smile.gif:.

Lovely ideas. Noted on the yellow flower, and endstone is actually labeled. You just saw the blank spot for the sky portal because I haven't found a way to place the block yet.

Can't suggest much, the actual presentation is OK, but the map is rather laggy. I'm not sure if this is my computer choking on the detail, though. The only real lag-inducer I noticed was a forest fire breaking out somewhere (I don't recall exactly where, but if you go past those houses based on Emily's guide (the two-story ones where the upper floor is basically just a little tower of sorts) you should notice it.
I plugged that up though, and I didn't notice any particular speed increases, heh. Not sure what is up.
Okay, having looked through the map, I think it's excellent.
There are only a few things I think need changing or adding:
- "White flower" should be renamed to "Yellow flower" or "Dandelion".
+ Enderdragon egg and The End crystals (that regen Enderdragons).
+ Animals/mobs in later versions?
Oh, and I really like the test maps where you can take one screenshot of all the textures at once. It would be amazing if you added another section next to the main section that has this (and a platform to take the screenshot from?) :smile.gif:.
Well done :smile.gif:.
1: already done
2: end crystals?
3: maybe. probably.

Not sure where the lag is coming from, or the fire. There's none of that that I can see. It might have something to do with having every texture on screen, but I doubt it.
I clearly went to school a different year too you, because you can't.
You're either quite old, stubborn, and ill-informed or quite young and know everything in the whole wide world. I'm leaning towards quite young, because you still feel the need to start **** in virtually every thread you frequent.
Yeah, I found that a little while ago. It's only a problem if people decide to go off exploring, but it'll be fixed in the next release. Also, I think I've fixed the big lag problem someone was having earlier by removing a lot of the water below the test track. That's just a guess till it can be tested though. So far I've put in a nether and end simulation cave (yeah, the end is pretty easy), a cave with ores, and half of the art.
I'll drop another version once I finish the art and items.
Alright, r2 is up. I've included a nether and end section, updated a few missing blocks, corrected a few errors, removed a lot of flowing water from the area which was causing lag, put out a fire, added a one-stop-screenshot-gallery (behind the starting point), added an art section, and crap, dug up a bunch of stuff that I didn't fix. Oh well, there's always r3.
Aaaand r3 is up. Fixed a few little spots and cleaned up the all-in-one-screenshot area. If anyone has ideas on how to pretty up the art section, I'm all ears.
Mobs and monsters next, but don't hold your breath cause I've no idea how to get that done.

Speaking of mobs and monsters, could anyone clue me in on how to set up spawners?
The point where you would stand should be close enough to spawn mobs but not too close for them to spawn out the cage or whatever is being used.
Also the spawner gui mod is needed to change what the spawner spawns.
Risugami's Spawner GUI is the by far the easiest way to set spawners, though you can kill two birds with one stone via SPC, since you'll not only be able to give yourself the spawner item easily, but you can also set it via the /spawner command. Whatever works for you, just be sure that you're giving the thing to be spawned its proper spawn conditions.

Thanks! I hope that's the case.
Glad I'm useful.

One? One?
Well I guess we know which one it will be :tongue.gif:

I don't like having it inside because it's restrictive. And ugly.
To-do:
More buildings
Underground nether simulator
Cave with ores
Painting showcase
Chests with items
Rain preventer (glass roof)
Animals/Mobs

Thank you! I'll see what I can do with this.
