My suggestion would be to have certain textures linked by default, but have the option to split them up and swap them separately sort of like photoshop linked layers.
Well, to give a little more detail, I don't like how everything is hugely divided, and illustrated with full-blown images.
With the Painterly Customizer (yes, I am comparing the two), everything was quite small. It made it easier for my eyes, as I find it difficult to focus on big things, compared to small things. - Which is quite problematic, as there is a 1 pixel bug on my monitor, which I keep noticing.
Anyway, it would be nice if there was a "small" version, which would have a much smaller design.
The dragging-feature for Art and Armor was also confusing to me to start with, even though I figured it out now. I personally prefer clicking with customizers, over dragging.
Again, a matter of personal preference.
Another thing, the "Download" button should not take color from the User Interface; code it to black. I am using a user interface which has white fonts, instead of black, which makes the download button seem rather.. Weird.
Lastly, the dropdowns aren't working for me. I click them, but nothing happens. Since I'm not a coding genius, I can't tell you why, sadly.
Other than those, personal, things, you're doing a very good job! Keep up the good work :3
I'll look into those things. Which dropdowns are you talking about? In Browse?
PM me your OS and browser+version.
The 5mb limit is only per image. So no worries there. We have unlimited space with our hosting plan so no worries there.
I personally think it would be awesome if you uploaded "massive amounts of stuff". I don't think it takes much to set up your pack on the site. The only truly necessary thing you need to do is upload all of your textures. All the rest is just icing on the cake. I think the community would be overjoyed if you were to do that. I'm not sure if I'm understanding the issue of time you have....
Also, like was said above, your textures aren't only uploaded "block by block". you can upload a full terrain.png and it will add all of those textures in piece by piece. Duplicates are not added.
Thanks, for getting back so soon with such a clear reply when you are clearly hard pressed for time yourself. :smile.gif:
In terms of 'time' I just meant lack of it due to 'real life' commitments, which means at the moment I find it difficult just to keep up with Notch's 'little' updates, re-organising my own OP and even trying to organise my own artwork on my harddrive. In real life I'm your archetypal messy disorganised artist and I'm no different on the Minecraft Forums, sadly my problem though, not yours. :biggrin.gif:
Sorry I misunderstood the 5meg limit, that's allayed my fears of limitation. So if I understand correctly (and I realize I should just go and experiment now and give you some peace) I can upload my terrain.png and take my time adding all my alternates and other paraphernalia as and when I get the time?
I'll repeat though, you've done a marvellous job here and in a way made it possible for both texture pack artists and users to become more compatible...kind of like a Minecraft Dating Agency!

You've got some awesome textures. I think any kind of effort would be greatly appreciated by the community.
I thought this was going to be like painterly pack which let me choose what I wanted, I didn't want to make it.
You don't have to make one. Go to Browse and find someone else's pack. Each person's pack page is like their very own personal customizer, kind of like painterly for each creator's pack. Also if you favorite packs and/or textures, you can then click the Customize tab to download a pack for yourself based on any of your own textures, defaults, or any pack/texture you've favorited (if the creator of those favorites allows it).
While some textures are obviously meant to go together (wools, stone and ores, redstone wiring) there should still be the option to separate them so that, if needed, they can be mixed.

Well the wools can be split up and used just as individual colors as opposed to one giant wool picker if the creator chooses. It is a setting when they edit their page.
Is this what you mean?
Adding a way to verify whether a pack is the official version and not one of the dozens of 'painterly' remixes. that way when you visit the page their could be a water mark placed by a moderator indicating this is the original/official.

Will do. Reporting any unofficial packs would be helpful too. We don't want any. And especially not Painterly ones. I may start some sort of semi-strict banning if I see somebody uploading junk like that. We want the site as clean as possible.
Alright now Bramamine, do you have your own Texture Pack on the site?
Now when would I have time to be selfish and create my own texture pack? :tongue.gif: I've been devoting my free time to making the site for all YOU guys. haha. Eventually I will......one day..
I was wondering if you would be interested in making it possible for the user to decide (while in the customize tab) whether or not they have to select each individual wool texture, or if they could just pick the wools from a single pack, that way if they want to change all the wool from one pack to another (or from one pack option to a provided alternate) they do not have to choose all 16 wools individually.
Not sure what you mean here...

That is planned for the future. I think it would be awesome too.
