Just noticed a little problem: When you upload the items.png, the minecart with furnace/chest, and the music discs don't have textures. i checked my items.png, it's fine. Those four items are invisible to me though. So... fix. =3
things like this are only because we haven't added the texture's info (coords, size, etc) so it never grabs it. But we added those in. Thanks for the heads up. Sometimes we just......forget.
Now the real question is, do the CREATORS of the site have their own texture packs on there?
Hehehe verrrrry good question. The Antiquity pack was created by Kaiassc. Very cool if you have played Chrono Trigger. He has a nice YouTube video of it on his page.
Very nice!
Uploaded my texturepack.
Maybe add an option to upload a zip.
I looked into that and fretted over it much....I really wanted to do it that way. Programmatically it would be pretty simple but from a security standpoint its a nightmare. Not only do we not know whats inside the zip when you upload it, but there are attacks done with zips called zip bombs. Basically someone zips up a huge repeating file so it becomes super small as zip. When you unzip it its like ...... its like somebody found a way to put creepers into a chest. They give you the chest and you go to break it to pick it up so you can do something with it and.......well you know what happens next...all the creepers get let out.
Personally, I find the layout of the side very confusing.
Some of the text isn't very easily readable (mostly because I just woke up, and my eyes haven't quite adjusted yet), so I would recommend you change it to "Arial" and make it more functional, than stylish.
Most of the reason to make a customizer (the way I see it, anyway), is to make things easy to use. And I do find the customizer slightly confusing, as it seems that the customizer only work for one Texture Pack at a time. I had expected everything would be a giant compilation of a bunch of texturepacks, which would really leave room for categorization.
If my, er, "complaints" (actually, they do come across as complaints quite a bit, sorry about that) needs further detail, just request it, and I'll try to give you better feedback.
Really nice site though, and the downloading system seems flawless! :biggrin.gif:

The right side is just meant to provide some information on the pack. I am interested in knowing what was confusing about the site. It lets texture pack creators have customizable textures within their packs and gives them a nice page for their packs.
The 'giant compilation' idea does exist in a form- in the Customize Favorites page it lets you customize between all of your "favorited" packs (that have Public set to Yes) and all your favorited textures (you can favorite textures individually by beginning to drag them; a favorites chest will appear).
Ok, just had another quick look through the site, there really needs to be a flag or report button. Someone has already posted doku's pack without permission and so far there isn't any way (at least not that I've seen) to tell you guys or a mod (if there are any)
This could also cut back on the amount of 'customized jolicraft' packs or packs that were made ON the site just by mixing and matching textures, with the creator not actually doing any work themselves.
Edit: Could we get a way to upload a base terrain.png, and then any alternatives get laid over that? And could you add a feature to change ALL the wools in one option?
This all does look rather spiffing, chaps! I shall have to look into this. :smile.gif:
However my initial reaction, and this is by no-means a critiscism of you, just of myself and my circumstances, is one of worry about how much time this would take to set up and maintain...one of my reasons for being absent from Planet Minecraft! I also have way more than 5 megs of alternate textures, many of which are kind donations from users of my pack, but not having experimented yet, I'm not sure how restrictive your 5 meg limit is.
Being the hard pressed (for time) kind of guy I am, and desperately looking for a way that doesn't involve me having to upload massive amounts of stuff, I would love a downloadable version of something like this...but this is me shooting an idea off the top of my head and would probably mean just as much work for me packaging up alternates and a crazy amount of work for you guys.
You have undoubtedly created a wonderful and most excellent tool. What I particularly like is being able to 'sort by texture'. It's absolutely fascinating to see all the different ways each artist has represented a given texture at the click of a button. :smile.gif::iapprove:
ps. I must agree with Sheep's concern with the lack of a report button. Doku's 'DokuCraft' looks like it's been created by a Zendhor, not by Doku. As well intentioned as the guy might be in uploading the pack, it does give the wrong impression of it's provenance.
My suggestion would be to have certain textures linked by default, but have the option to split them up and swap them separately sort of like photoshop linked layers.
Creator's pages have a download link on the bottom. If you visit a pack page and click that, it is the exact same thing as having it all pre-made (or whatever) elsewhere with just a simple .zip download.
I don't see this as a feature the site needs and it would just clutter it up. Any other inputs?
i diont know, your cite overall looks great! i have been asking for something to happen like this forever! and the skin thing also is cool!

Unless im doing it a lazy way all textures are uploaded block by block.
Im probably missing something though, so I wouldnt take my word for it.
Well, to give a little more detail, I don't like how everything is hugely divided, and illustrated with full-blown images.
With the Painterly Customizer (yes, I am comparing the two), everything was quite small. It made it easier for my eyes, as I find it difficult to focus on big things, compared to small things. - Which is quite problematic, as there is a 1 pixel bug on my monitor, which I keep noticing.
Anyway, it would be nice if there was a "small" version, which would have a much smaller design.
The dragging-feature for Art and Armor was also confusing to me to start with, even though I figured it out now. I personally prefer clicking with customizers, over dragging.
Again, a matter of personal preference.
Another thing, the "Download" button should not take color from the User Interface; code it to black. I am using a user interface which has white fonts, instead of black, which makes the download button seem rather.. Weird.
Lastly, the dropdowns aren't working for me. I click them, but nothing happens. Since I'm not a coding genius, I can't tell you why, sadly.
Other than those, personal, things, you're doing a very good job! Keep up the good work :3

This already exists. It's a pack setting that the creators choose when you edit the pack. (checkbox)

The 5mb limit is only per image. So no worries there. We have unlimited space with our hosting plan so no worries there.
I personally think it would be awesome if you uploaded "massive amounts of stuff". I don't think it takes much to set up your pack on the site. The only truly necessary thing you need to do is upload all of your textures. All the rest is just icing on the cake. I think the community would be overjoyed if you were to do that. I'm not sure if I'm understanding the issue of time you have....
Also, like was said above, your textures aren't only uploaded "block by block". you can upload a full terrain.png and it will add all of those textures in piece by piece. Duplicates are not added.

You can edit new alts into a terrain.png and re-upload it. It'll detect the duplicates and add the new alts.
Oh, and may I suggest some part of the site where you can get a template for a new pack? I don't need one myself, but I could see it being useful.
Oh, didnt know that, thats really handy!
