Yes, I am indeed bringing you another new pack! Using new-found texturing methods and styles, I have started progress on a 128x128 pack. This pack is focused on the smooth, simplistic side of nature, and brings forth a clean and crisp texture. I somewhat agree with others that HD photo-realistic packs look wrong in Minecraft, which is why the style of HD pack I bring you is smooth and fitting into the game, textures made to look right in your builds, not just in Photoshop. I plan to continue this, and just so I don't get side tracked and end up abandoning this project, I am opening it up for critique and encouragement, and anything of the sort, so I don't just forget this and move on from what will become a style of HD pack I actually like. I will not have any downloads right now, and I don't expect any in the too near future, but I will get this pack far enough to have a development version available. Hopefully by that point, I will be able to fix any problems and bring my textures to their highest potential for everyone to enjoy. With that said, this pack is shown to the public for any comments, compliments, critiques, and complaints that you can think of. So if you could, please leave any feedback on the pack to help me improve my textures along the way while I work to complete it!
A little information on how the name came, while I think of it. I have tried to come up with some names for a lot of packs, and I think I'm satisfied when I release them, but then after posting the thread, I always seem to spot a pack right next to mine with a catchier name, and I don't really like the sound of mine anymore. In this case, I took some inspiration from some other names to get me on the right track to begin with. One name that I liked the sound of was SycloneSJS' "Chroma Hills", and to use it as inspiration, rather than just copying, I just used the idea of having a descriptive word, followed by a picturesque natural sight. I tried to think of some different words when the combination of such from the Canadian National Anthem occured to me, in the verse "our home and native lands". I saw the potential immediately, and after some final consideration, I decided to make it the pack's official name.

Has a very nice realism+unrealism look to it! Sort of like drfrozenfire and iipod's collab that only like 2 textures were shown.
Wha? I never saw that. That would be an amazing collab... Though they seem to have quite different styles... But being anything like that means a lot!
Thank you!

I am curious at the resolution though. Most of the textures so far do not need x128, they could be perfectly happy and look just as good as x64. I ask because picking the resolution of a pack is a vexsome question for me. I LOVE the detail of x128 but it cuts the audience for the TP significantly, so I generally opt for lower, much lower. Do you have any advice on the topic?

(koo-star-neek) The real numbers are countable and I CAN prove it. Cantor was wrong!
Aha! This was your new pack you were on about earlier in the TAU!
Looks pretty decent,
but them bricks bug me; the bricks themselves look more like the material of planks, and my eyes naturally seem to focus on the mortar, as if the mortar's embossed as opposed to the bricks. Could just be me, though.
My eyes naturally focus on the texture itself. That is actually my second revision of the bricks. I had a thinner mortar space and more of a bevel on the bricks, but it didn't look very good, so I took a look at some bricks, and made my texture based off it. If you look up "bricks" on google images, a lot of the bricks don't have much of a bevel. In fact, this image is pretty much what I was going for.

One thing that I have been criticized on with my packs before is that my style doesn't require as high a resolution as I use, but for my style, I am making a very smooth pack, and although the texture pattern could be achieved in a lower resolution, I lose half of the smoothness in the process, and I actually think that is the best use of HD packs: to make the textures much smoother. It is an opinion thing, I guess. I think the best resolution would really depend on the theme. If I want to make a futuristic, or sci fi pack, I would need an HD pack to really show the theme. If I want photo realism, I would need a very high resolution, because there isn't enough room in lower resolutions, but If I was making a warm cozy pack, I could do it with a 16x16 pack, like the way Lithium made GreatWood. This pack is supposed to be very sleek and smooth, so I used a resolution that isn't vastly overboard, but has enough pixels to make things truely "smooth", which is what I want the pack to be.

Wow. Real nice. What I really like is how the blocks tile. The emerald ore is also really well made as well, I see how you only put one emerald, since you only get one.

Thanks. After working out the texture, fixing the tiling did take quite some time. I also do find it odd when you break an ore block with a bunch of emeralds, only to get one emerald drop.

I really like it, the smoothness of it as well as the shading are the best parts of the textures to me. One thing that bothered me was the redstone ore, I don't know if it was intended, but you can clearly see where each block begins and ends. I would also suggest random CTM with the emerald, but it might not even matter since they only generate 1x1. Anyways, I hope you continue making new textures, they all look really great.
Another from the house of G to keep my eye on, thanks for giving me a sneaky peak before you went public hope I helped a lil with some of your concerns.
Anyways, I really like the new red brick it's different and gives your pack its own look, a touch less orange y maybe so it sits better with some of the more richer colour blocks you have done.
Are you going to focus on this pack or just little bit as an when while doing all the other packs?

Thanks! I like it when you actually mine 1 (one) mineral in an ore to get 1 (one) chunk, like the emerald, but I do think I'll add random CTM for it a bit later on, because it really doesn't tile well. The redstone ore was really an experiment, but I am still thinking of a better style. I'm trying to make it actually look like a powder, since the item dropped is powdery.
Ah you got round to getting the pack thread up G!

You did help me to get out a better brick before making the thread! But I still need to redo the wood on the trap door like you mentioned... If there is one thing I can work on easier than other things, it is the colour, so I'll try to redden the bricks (assuming you meant more red).
I know that some people have shown a disapproval of my working on several packs at once. I don't know if it is because they are concerned over my workload, or because they all want to see my work focused solely on one of the packs alone, but to said people's misfortune, I do plan to keep working on maintaining all the ones released. I don't know if i is a diagnosed mental problem, but I find it very hard to work on one style and one resolution consistently. I yearn for variation, so I work on one of my others when I lose ambition to do textures on one, because if I try to force myself to keep working on the same one when I'm losing ambition, it really cuts the quality.
I like how every texture has s really similar pattern, but you can still easily differ the textures.
However, I don't like the redstone ore. At all.
Thanks. The redstone was... Experimental, and can be changed, but I want it to look like a dusty/powdery... Stuff. So I will try some other things as soon as I can think of how to make it look powdery.
Another new block! The Birch Planks are done! Now I just need to think of a fitting design for Jungle wood... I want something that isn't boring, like your typical everyday plank styles and the Default style, but I want it good for building... Just thinking out loud here, I don't really need you to think up suggestions, I just need to come up with something...
no worries ive got to say that wood texture is fab, everything is good work
Thanks! I'm glad you like the wood. I wasn't sure of that one, but seeing other people so enthusiastic about it makes me feel less like I need to redo it!
Hmm... It seems the dots around "Native Lands" in the thread link have disappeared...
Added a new style of Glass! I am quite happy with how realistic the (actually weird) shading looks, so I added a green background because the shading doesn't show up at all on this white background.
Glass? i think this should be iron bars, glass isn't made from metal,
Yeah, I am replacing my iron bars with it. If you look around, there are few packs that actually make it out to be glass. A lot of them are lattice, mesh, boards, or metal rods, so they are more decorative. These, they are metal rod types, but I guess it fits better as iron bars.

I was basing it off of VictoriaCraft's glass, but I guess I ended up making it look much more metallic, and the more I see it, the more it looks like iron bars.
And I left some feedback on that.
