I have been heavily customizing my texture pack to fit my own liking.
I have changed literally everything in the game, changed block texture / color etc
but right now I have come across the trouble of turning water / rain into blood. cant seem to do it...
Inside the "misc" folder I have edited the watercolor.png image (triangle shaped image)
into red-orange color palette and I have also turned the water.png (little square shaped image) into red
then inside the "environment" folder I have edited the rain.png image to red
also edited the particles.png and turned the droplets red,
and edited the terrain.png and changed the water to red...
I didn't see anything else that needs to be changed which is related to rain and water...
then after I have inserted the texture pack and opened my game,
the water was still blue O_O still the same exact texture as the original
but every other change I have done in the texture pack worked properly...
the grass foliage was red etc so I know I did everything else correctly except for the water...
I have no mods installed so I cant test the rain yet if it is red now :tongue.gif: I don't like mods...
anyway, I tested it and when I am inside the water, it turns red.
the overview of the water is still blue though... why!??? :sad.gif:
so what have I been doing wrong? how do i turn the rain and water into a bloodlike color?
my texture pack is 16x16 by the way if that helps, I don't want to install the mcpatcher thing...
I play on minecraft version 1.0.0
ok, so I installed the pcpatcher
after installing mcpatcher,
my waters overview is now red! hooray!
but then there came another problem...
when I jumped into the water,
the color of the water is blue again
the same with the water particles O_O
I want everything red...
before I installed the patcher, the only problem was
the waters overview was blue and not red
but the view when you are underwater was red the same with the particles...
I don't know why it became vice versa after I installed the patcher O_O
I checked my texture pack and the particles and water color are still red though...
so what the hell is wrong this time??? :sad.gif:
how do I turn the particles and water view beneath red?
To change the water particles colour that you get from rain etc. Go into the particles.png and edit the blue splashes/bubbles.
To change the underwater colour make a png called underwatercolor.png which is 256x256 big and place it in the misc folder. (Make sure you ticked the custom colors option when you ran MCPatcher).
To change the water that drips from the ceiling you need to create a color.properties file and include a colour for the water in there, the MCPatcher thread explains how to do this more thoroughly, if you want an example you can take a look at the properties file in my texture pack.
the reason why I'm so confused:
before I used the patcher my underwater color was already red
and my particles were also red so I know I did those right
but my waters overview was still blue so I had to install mcpatcher.
after the installation, the particles and underwater color became blue again
but the waters over view was finally red... weird.
to back that story up, I clicked the "unpatch" button on my patcher
and the underwater color & particles were red again
but the overview of the water was back to blue.
this is really strange...
anyway, I tried adding an "underwatercolor.png" in the misc folder,
it's basically just a copy of the watercolor.png which is 256x256 with a triangle shape...
even with that, my underwatercolor was still blue... and i remembered to patch it again btw...
I don't really care much about the water dripping from the ceiling :tongue.gif:
how do u edit the water with the patcher, i downloaded the newest file of it, then i tried every combination of unanimated, custom animated, and default but these didn't work, can some1 plz tell me what im doing wrong?

I recently got into editing textures and came across this problem as well...but is mcpatcher more directed towards mods? I haven't delved into that quite yet and don't want to risk accidentally modding my game since I'm not aiming to do that...is this how everyone edits water and lava?

There's yet more to come!
so water can only turn red with pcpatcher?? O_O
wth, I just wasted a whole day trying to figure it out :tongue.gif:

I looked and it didn't really say how I could change the water particles color and the water underlay color... so how do I edit that?
