I can't wait for this pack! and I am pretty sure alot of other people stated that aswell xD. What really has me intrigued are the Ghast(scary!) and the tools! (sexy!) haha great work Taehl!
Let finally get this pack! I do not want to watch pictures, I want to personally try it out!
Only those photographs of people nervous ... :angry.gif:
I don't think you fully appreciate the time and effort that goes into this sort of work. Sure, Taehl could slap together the last of the textures and call it a day, but that would result in shoddy work. If you really want this pack to be the best it can be, then let Taehl take her time.
As for Taehl, keep up the good work! This is one of my most anticipated texture packs, and I can't wait to see what you come up with.
Just a little update, basically three things are holding up TTP3's development at this point:
1) Waiting for Lilyo's response to my response to his second mini-review
2) I can't get any non-hostile mobs to spawn, so I can't really work on the pig
3) The Mt. Gox crisis, and the typhoon of misinformation around it
They can be solved by:
1) Lilyo responding
2) Minecraft getting fixed...
3) Mt. Gox just got its claims system up, so hopefully it's almost over
2) I can't get any non-hostile mobs to spawn, so I can't really work on the pig
On your mulitplayer server? Servers do that randomly for no good reason. I suggest that you make a new world in singleplayer just for looking for mob. If that still doesn't work just get the singleplayer commands mod and /spawn pig.
@Gravel - I donno, I think brown looks better than purple. It actually looks really good and it only took 2 secs to make (overlayed current gravel with the dirt as a color layer)
@Grass - The thing is you're using a lot of brown in areas outside the desert biome. That's definitely clear after taking a quick look at the grasscolor file. And then you have that huge black spot in the middle and other tiny black spots which really darken the grass like in that screenshot I showed you. The top left side also has a lot of dark spots. I just think you should smooth those out and make them a bit greener and lighter.
Less like this (Tundra)
More like this (Forest) :biggrin.gif:
@Books - You could use different colors instead of white. Like just darken up those white spots on the lower half of the block for example (there's this one U shape on the left and a line in the center)
@Chest - I still think the huge padlock looks out of place haha
@Sand - I noticed there's one too many dark pixels on the top corner of sand which causes a little line-like pattern to appear when looking one way. I'd be easy to fix by just making one of the darker pixels a lighter color.
Also, found a few bugs with the achievements. First of all, every time you open the Achievements screen up, you get this weird transparent sort of bg and it goes back to normal when you hover over an icon. It doesn't do this with other packs so I dunno how you managed that lol. Also, you need the fix the "you do not have permission blah blah" text from the bg.png for the achievements as it's showing up weird as an overlay or something when you get an achievement on the top right corner.
And are you doing pine needles and support the Patcher by making a custom water and maybe lava/ fire/ portal? Come on, just this one SAFE patch :C
The current water looks hideous. Or at least make get someone else to do it for the people who DO use the patcher cause you're a nice person like that?
Also, here's your damn pig (with the sexy gravel in the bg) if you still can't find one. I think it's fine as is.

-snip-
I have a really good water base so I could potentially do that.
I might make a water for it and just send it too people that ask for it if Teahl doesn't want to support it :smile.gif:
Oh yea, that brown gravel blends in well and looks a lot better!
Gravel: See, I think that brown gravel you showed looks terrible. It doesn't stand on its own at all, and isn't very clear as to what it is. Besides, as I said before, purple gravel helps break up the monotony of the other browns and greys which are used so heavily elsewhere.
Biome brown: What do you mean, I use a lot of brown outside deserts? According to this chart, the desert biome has the brown area, with only small splotches outside it (meant to be random spots where grass has naturally died).
Biome dark: That spot is the swamp, forest, and partially woods biomes (check the chart), which I made darker to help them look different from rain forest, seasonal forest, and taiga. Calling it a huge "black" spot is far too strong of a term, you must admit: It's exactly 25% darker, which is far from black (the darkest spot in it has a lightness of 76). The dark green spots in the top-left come from being rain forest. If I follow your advice too strongly, I'd end up with default Minecraft's boring, personality-less simple gradients, so, do you have any less drastic suggestions? From your pictures, I suppose I could lower the forest darkening to something more like 18%.
Books: I can't use other colors, since my books aren't other colors. Blame publishers for making my books have so much white.
Sand: Good catch on that line. Fixed. Getting rid of every last little thing like that takes way more effort than I wish it did.
Patcher: No, no mods. Not until they're safe. I told you. Besides, I'm sure there's a lot of people who will really appreciate having a quality texture pack which doesn't force them to use mods. Until mod support is official, or custom water and such are a standard Minecraft feature, we're going to have to deal with Notch's negligence.
Pig: Hm, yeah, that does look much better than the old skin. But I'm far from happy with it, even so. Hm... I may just have to redraw it altogether.
Again, thank you for the quality feedback. It's very useful.
Um, I'm not using any mods and you're pack is the only one that's doing that. I'm not sure why.
Also, I'm talking about this.
Red is where the dark spot is, which as you know, is also where the forest and woods are which I see as more of a "default" area. So what I'm saying is sort of take that green you have up in the seasonal forest and make the woods and forests a bit more like that.
Then the brown extends to about where the blue line is, which again, I just feel is bit too much and obviously outside the desert biome.

And really? No love for the sexy brownish gravel :C?
Sheep, you said you made an animated water and do you also have a fire or lava as well?
Mind posting them here? I'm sick of this ugly blue water.
I'm going to throw in my two cents since I've been watching this topic for a while:
Gravel - As much as you may like it, it seems like no one else does. If you want to make this pack for yourself, then you don't really have any reason to post it here. The least you could do would make it a bit more pleasing for everyone else, and leave the current as an alternate.
Grass - It definitely appears too dark in some areas, the almost dirt-brown grass looks really out of place among forests. Throw some more green in there.
Custom Water/Lava/Fire/Portal - There is no reason why not to add these. If you don't use the patcher, then you get defaults, while using the patcher gives you the better water. Honestly you're just being silly not adding them.
Here is my comment on using the patcher,
You don't need to patch to use your texture pack problem free.
However most people do have it patched and would like to see custom water and lava.
On to the gravel, I do like the brown gravel the best out of the three gravels shown
and I think it would look nice ingame and for roads.
The grass to me is just fine as it is.
I'm going to say that I like the brown gravel, and like someone mentioned, have your purple as an alternate? I actually do not mind the grass at all, the "brownishness" that people are describing actually appeals to me. Custom water/lava/portals WOULD be quite cool too! :3

I need to finish it first, but as soon as I do, I'll send it to you. I have lava from my other pack which I can use but I haven't attempted fire yet. I might after I finish the new gui for my pack. :smile.gif:
Oh, Taehl, That biome triangle might be a bit off... I used this one:
It may be wrong as well, but the point is that there are several different versions of it and no way to tell which is correct...
I do think the one I used is pretty accurate though!
Four days without anyone bugging you about finishing this... you can't tell me that wasn't nice.
Ya done yet?
Last time I checked, Taehl is doing the not-releasing-thing, in order to get some feedback. Getting feedback while the forums are down, is probably quite difficult. I'm fairly sure Taehl isn't doing it to torture us, but to make sure we'll like the final outcome -- and when she doesn't have the feedback of the TP's users, that can be quite difficult (hurray for posting the same message twice!).
Sheeze, it would be nice if people would stop bugging Taehl, and just let him/her finish it in peace -- and give him/her some feedback when requested.
Also Taehl, do you think there's any chance that you'll also make a 32x32 User Interface? I simply can't stand 16x UIs, they look all scattered and messed up to me..
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
AVATAR, PHOTO AND SKIN AT THE COURTESY OF WHISKERS
It'll be released once it's released, give it some time.
Besides, wouldn't it be nice if it was released along with the Adventure Update (presumably 1.8)?

Mob Spawner is popping out pigs for me just fine. In excess, in fact. They're everywhere!
