Wood (planks and trees (including the new ones)) are done. I still need to do the third sapling. Wooden blocks (crafting bench, chest, wooden door, record player, bed) are (re)done (but I think I want to do some more work on the minecart rails).
So wait, you are *basically* the creator of the original painterly textures and then kas stole them?
:ohmy.gif:
The plot thickens!
Anyway, seriously nice work. I always look forwards to seeing new (well, you aren't exactly new, rocking it oldschool :biggrin.gif:) 16x texture packs! Helps me get a feel to whether I have some serious new competition in town!
If my pack's were more realism based, I would be wiped out... anyway x2, take these diamonds to make up for my lack of understandability. (can't believe that's a word!)

Don't get me wrong, most of Kas's pack wasn't stolen from me (though he may have stolen it from others, who knows?). But it did contain my work, and rather than remove them or give me credit, he decided to cover his tracks and say I was lying. His dishonesty went a long way in earning him my ire.
But anyway, I would like some help. I have yet to decide what I want to do with pumpkins. I don't want to make pumpkins, since that's been done before (and lighting areas with jack-o-lanterns is kitsch). What would be a good replacement? Any suggestions?

...OMFG. Really? That just threw my whole world upside down. And here I felt bad wanting to base some of my ideas on the Painterly Pack. Who KNOWS what that would have meant in the long run...*rolls eyes*

Hmm... Gourds aren't a bad idea. They even make lanterns out of them. Too bad I can't have the "face" texture on each side, but it's still something. I like gourds more than my previous idea of using watermelons, since one would wonder why the "watermelon" isn't edible (gourds generally aren't cultivated for food) (though, TECHNICALLY, pumpkins are quite edible, but Notch hasn't given us this option...). Thank you for the idea!
How about this: I've seen some texture packs portray dyes as liquids in bottles, and others as powders sitting on paper. Which should I go with?

Very nice so far. I never knew the whole "Painterly" story til now. Nice to see you've returned to show who's boss though
:biggrin.gif:
For the pumpkins, I was gonna do tree stumps since they look natural in the surroundings. Then you could make a hollow with a candle inside or any other light. (scary eyeballs)
With the dyes...I am not pleased with the bottles I made. After I use them for a while, each bottle looking the same but a different color, got sorta boring and uninspired to me. So my suggestion would be not to do that...lol!

I like the powder idea for the dyes. Maybe in a bowl??? I don't know. Do you have an idea for your release date? Lol.
And that animated particle looks awesome, but what will it be from?
Minecraft uses just one generic animated particle for everything - torch smoke, redstone puffs, red torch smoke, monster vaporization... That animation was the result of me slaying a cow. As for a release date... Not so sure. Barring anything unexpected, I should have it ready for play in a few days.
I've been making good progress on the items today.
That thing in the bottom-middle, by the way, is a boat. I've skinned them to be white inside and around the upper edge, and to have a metal rim. This is purely cosmetic, of course - the recipe is still just wood.

umm... Dyes: buckets of water with dyestuff?
Also, lovely item work. :3
Edit: Wtf I swear I posted my idea earlier and again just now but it never showed up. How weird. D:
Anyhow, that's my idea for you. I originally had more explanation behind it but...I don't feel like having to type something in detail a third time. x_x
He stole a number of my items and tiles outright. When I asked him to give me credit for them, he managed to convince all his fans that their very eyes were deceiving them... And yet, just so happened to update his pack on the very day I brought this to light, which just so happened to change some of the graphics in question...
I'm fine if people use my work, assuming they change it (that is to say, don't just copy it and tweak the color a bit) and /give me credit/. I said as much in the readme. All I want is credit where credit is due.
Fascinating story and you have my heartfelt sympathy on this! Credit is the most important thing for an artist after so much original effort. Have a look at this thread, Taehl, you might feel you have a little more support when times get rough and you feel you need the backing of others. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=279778

Gourds? I've been wondering if something like this might work: http://blog.craftzine.com/gourds.jpg
Otherwise, something like this http://kaweahoaks.com/html/stinking_gourd_gourds.jpg or a giant square zucchini would be interesting to see.

Regarding the dyes, it depends if you want a "Paint" (liquid), or actual dye powder. I believe dyes are a powder in real life.
And i say we should spam Kas' email and make him remove the textures. He would probably just ignore us though.
Then, Taehl can sue him.
PS) Gestankfaust, Giger is my favorite artist. I have five of his artbooks. Don't get me started on how amazing I think he is. ^^*
