Here are some textures I made in April and May 2012, but never materialized into a full pack. This served as good practice and brings me closer to getting a good feel for texturing, and pixel art in general.
Opinions: Spruce wood needs to be darker, Cobblestone needs more contrast from stone. I might end up using the texture on the left (Stone brick) as the cobblestone.

The pine? wood at the far right seems to have a little error with tiling, although it looks minor.
Thanks, that tiling error is just a flaw in the middle of the texture that doesn't looks so good, if I a correct in guessing what you're referring to. I'm also thinking of redoing the oak wood, It looks a bit too complex, if that is the right word. Going to make it smoother, less knotted.
In addition: Does anyone know where I can find a Terrain.png for 1.2.5? I can't show the other textures off in game, because I don't know where they are supposed to be on the terrain, since I'm using a 1.0.0 terrain.png as a template.
You can find a 1.2.5 terrain.png in the All Inclusive Guide to Texturing, pinned at the top of this forum or on the wikia.
Amazing textures so far, I especially like the stone bricks and the logs. I'd really like to see how the rest of this pack turns out.
I think that you could make some of the ores better by not making them simple recolours of each other, and the same for the four wood planks. Apart from that this looks perfect.
Thanks. The ores were just whipped together from the coal, so they will be messed around with more. I probably will stick to re-coloring the wooden planks, because I think that the different planks should still tile with each other, but I'm open to new plank ideas if you, or anyone else have any.
I definitely approve of this work! If you would ever need help pm me man. Been a while since I was here at the forums or playing MC for that matter! I do like this, need help just ask! Stay on task man I'm a big friend of Leostereo, I might show this to him

Personally I think this is better then leo's.
Edit: And I also think hes skilled enough to not need anyone's help, lol.
I personally like that style cobblestone a lot. And I prefer the larger chunks over smaller, grainy looking (If 16x can be "grainy" looking) cobble.
Nice work on this!
EDIT: On second note, a lot of the pixels seem to be leading into each other. The gradual depression in color value from the top of your larger stones to the bottom makes the texture look almost blurry in a sense.
I also think the mortar between the stones should have less of a green hue and more neutral to purple in hue.
Revised the jungle bark, and I really like how it turned out. It resembles the bark of a palm tree, somewhat, and I just really wanted to recreate that. Although this light bark color poses a problem with the jungle planks' color...
That worked pretty well, actually! They match the other planks a lot better now. It's only a slight change but it added some needed definition, none the less. I made a new oak bark, which I am liking more every time I look at it.

Hey man, I just stated my opinion And I'm bored and wanted to help Can't a guy ask?
That's fine, and I just stated mine. And sure you can! I was just saying your probably going to a get a "I don't need it".
Nice work on this!

I agree, those are the reasons I didn't like it either. I'm going to scrap that one for now.
I Agree.
The spruce and jungle wood are perfect though...
So, more contrasting darks on the oak and birch? Or is it just the birch? I'll see how it looks...
I think you should do it to both
