Hello there, I'm fairly new to the whole making of texture packs for Minecraft. I have a couple of small questions. I tried to make glass have a semi transparent (translucent) appearance by lowering opacity, however in game the texture becomes 'solid.' Is this a common issue and does it effect all the other blocks? I seen Ice is different in that it can be translucent and I'm wondering because I'd like to have a glass-like obsidian with translucent and transparent appearance.
I appreciate your time, Thank you.

Edit - Sorry I found the answer about glass a moment ago. However my other question still stands, would it be possible to make other blocks translucent aside from ice or is that the only one with the capacity?

Only a couple are coded to use translucency on the terrain.png. Ice is one, water is another. The rest will "solidify" what ever color is used.

I downloaded your default texture pack, and found a folder called 'lang' which you didn't mention here. What is it? I can't open either of the files inside it, en_US.lang or stats_US.lang. ?
Thanks, this was really helpful! =)
Although I still do need a bit of help. I am a texture pack designer and I'm up to boats, minecarts, armour etc. and I don't know what's what! The boat texture is a jumble of wood and dots and I have no idea on what to make what. Any help, ideas, pictures etc. would be much appreciated!
Is there a way to get the game to render semi transparent textures for glass, like ice and water? Or am I going to have to build walls out of ice and hope they don't melt?
I've looked and looked, and I can't find the screen overlay when the game is put into fancy graphics settings, is it just a modified vignette? Or a modified pumpkin blur?
