I have one little question.... I am writing a novelish thing for my english class... can I pull bits and pieces from it to use for my texture pack? Or does the whole thing eventually have to line up as a story?
Speaking of story, if you wish to read what I have so far(though I plan to completely rewrite it, here's a link:https://docs.google....oMUWlxZWgM/edit
From what I understand of the rules listed on the OP, you personally would start by creating textures for the amount of story that you've already written, take an in-game screenshot of a setting from the story (using your textures), then maybe write some more of the story and keep making textures/screenshots.
But since you've already written a large amount, you'l probably take more than one screenshot.
Stepping into the shed behind the castle, I drop the black duffel bag onto the table. In it; the equipment. Swords, bows, arrows, dragon whistles, and a couple of other things. The crew starts grabbing their stuff.
Now, before I go on, I’m going to tell you who makes up our fine crew. The oldest of us is Joey. Born Joseph William Pattergan, he’s the only guy on the team that’s out of his twenties. His complexion is dark, most likely because he spent most of the last two decades in the desert. With the scratchy, hoarse voice he has, it seems like sand got trapped in his voice box. His parents, two common folk who hooked up for a night, gave him up for adoption. Every person who adopted him, he ran away from. He’s also big, bulky, and buff. Not the guy you’d want to get in a fight with.
I don't know if we're supposed to continue on with our thread or not.. but..
PART TWO! (And yes, I know this is quite long Q_Q)
I shake my head, as if to clear it, knowing that no one will be able to hear me. I turn around, back into the royal sleeping quarters. A beautiful contrast to the white marble of the outer of the tower. There is a dark, thick grey carpet which covers the main of the floor, excluding the vanity, which has a dark, almost pink floor. The walls... a light red brick, installed in the third century of the King Dynasty. Nick-nacks spread anywhere and everywhere, an indication that the house-Keptin have not been doing their jobs.
The mirror shows a crystal-clear image of the Royal Dictator, light purple skin, black hair, and the rarest of all, light purple eyes. The only Whalabaloo's that have had this colour of eyes were the greatest of rulers. Zanksothy the Great... King Genshi, and Emperor Wingrid.
"Never amount to anything?" I say to my reflection, "Yeah, okay," I pause, growling, "The district has never been stronger." My voice continues to raise, "Whalabaloos have NEVER been more intelligent, in better relations with the Gods, and NEVER have had opportinuties in districts other than ours!"
I fall back into my chair, a small tear falling from my left eye, "And all for what? There's no point... we're doomed, we were never even supposed to be in this district. The Gods barely allow it as it is. The Keptin will rebel, taking their rule back." My eyes glow a deep orange, and the tears dry near instant, "It's the festival of Gehnsi. I should be happy. This is a time of not only great prosperity, but joy."
OH! and PS; I know the wool texture is absolutely horrendous. Sorry.
You got me back into extracurricular writing. Thank you.
Radiation holds our atoms together.
Pollution provides our cells with sustenance.
Yellowing skin prevents our rotten bones from reaching the place they long to be:
the same red dust that we toil endlessly with rusted tools.
Some of those bones succeed in escape, for these are the objects of our toil.
All resources on our planet have long ago been used;
the framework of our ancestors goes to build the machines;
the breath of the sun awakens them.
The bleached, lumbering contraptions harvest the precious microorganisms that we depend on
for food and most important of all: atmosphere.
In return, the microorganisms depend on us for the true fossil fuel: our bones, found only in the maroon ground we understand to be more than just "dirt".
Bones > Microorganisms > Us > Machines.
I took your advice and thought very little of the texture while I was writing, and it is turning out to be (at least in my opinion) a very interesting post-apocalyptic poem-type thingy.
I'll get started on the textures post-haste.
Very interesting! I love post-apocalyptic stuff like crazy, can't wait to see more of this.

Sure, just grab some excerpts that advance the story when you post your textures.

Critique away!
Ooo, interesting. I foresee lots of items being textured.

Top left to top right: Grass(Grayscale), Stone, Oak Planks, Stone Slab Side.
Bottom left to bottom right: Stone Slab top, Cobblestone, Oak Log, Stone Brick
I think I'm happiest with the grass and stone brick. Planks might be edited a little bit, as the contrast between the top and middle of each plank is odd. Dirt is going to be tough....

Here's a WIP first chapter:

I have to drop out before I even get really started... I just cant think of anything more to write. Nothing at all.Edit: Nevermind..

Yay, the second chapter! Love that mirror.
Hehe thanks:3 I'm going to start the third part soon c;
Top left to top right: Grass(Grayscale), Stone, Oak Planks, Stone Slab Side.
Bottom left to bottom right: Stone Slab top, Cobblestone, Oak Log, Stone Brick

Progress. . . Slightly.
I sure hope this isn't dead.
