Mediafire is awesome and if you disagree, you are WRONG.
Have a nice day.
Ditto, as I said earlier I have never had a problem using Firefox without adblock, anybody who is having trouble with it probably has a **** computer, didn't think about that did you?
I have never seen an add on Mediafire and it is IMO one of the best file hosts on the web. Up to 100 meg files if you use a free account and no transfer limit.
Umm just a quick thing, I use FF and GC and I wasn't aware of ads. I don't even play minecraft XD. I just made this account now, and I found this forum because I typed in something like "What's mediafire used for" or something along those lines. I like Mediafire, I dunno what it's for though XD. I only downloaded a song from DJ Satomi from it. That's all. Since Mediafire was one of the few sites that actually had that song, I liked it a lot. I thought I could download more songs that are hard to find on that site(I have RealPlayer now though so no need for that =P but I still like Mediafire). I dunno where I'm going with this, I just though you guys should know lol. I agree with the downloading of the adblocker thingy majigger. The only problem is... I DUNNO HOW TO SEARCH FOR OTHER SONGS THAT I WANT TO DOWNLOAD!!!!!!!!!! RAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's pretty cool though, I'm gonna keep it just in case because I may do something that requires me to have something of the "DropBox" variety. Also to host my files. Ya... ya that's right. I just tried acting smart. Whatcha gonna do 'bout it? :wink.gif: kthxbye.
You noobs running your mouths about AdBlock are completely and utterly missing the point. What countermeasures you're using matters not one bit.
MediaFire engages in some rather shady practices that are very possibly resulting in malware and keyloggers being installed on some people's machines. That is very freakin' bad and is more than enough reason for users to start shunning that site. This isn't a matter of "not having your best interests in mind" or "amg I hate ads", it's a matter of "they are using you as a patsy to lure your 'audience' within reach of what may well be criminal enterprises".
To spout off with aphorisms like "the internet is a dangerous place" is about as smart as seeing a bunch of gun-toting gangsters shooting up the neighborhood and saying "Bulletholes are natures way of helping the curb flowers grow with surplus human blood".
Ummm..... doesn't that just depend on WHO you're downloading it from? I haven't really used Mediafire more than once but, aren't there like... multiple download links some real and some containing viruses? If so, wouldn't it be the same on other sites? It all depends on the user who uploads the ****.
Don't tell me how I should use a browser that can't be taken over by your DL site. Don't tell me I should use defensive software so your DL site can't break my browser. Don't tell me how to keep your DL site from spawning windows, pop-unders, audio ads and countless other random ********.
Just assume that if you use Mediafire I will never see your files. Because I won't. Screw that crap.
Use a free host that doesn't suck or be a part of their scam based system. I don't care. I can't go there ever again and I am glad!
Dropbox.com is free. 2GB hosting 10GB/ day transfer limit. There are a lot of other non-crappy hosts out there. I don't care what you use, but I won't ever go to Mediafire again. FTS.
/rant
I use Mediafire all the time and I've never seen an ad there, much less anything audio or any popups/overs/unders.
EDIT::
Just read a couple of pages and holy **** you people...mediafire's ads are no shadier than the ones ANYONE else has. They do not and never have hosted or linked to malware. Anyone who got any sort of virus was stupid enough to download AND install something they had no reason to trust. Stop being, pardon a girl's french, ****ing stupid.
Most people don't make their stuff for you, they make it for them and make it available to you. That being the case, you should be grateful they took the time to even upload it at all, it's just an extra pain in the ass really. On top of that, most people offer a mirror site anyways.
tldr: then don't download it... doesn't hurt the authors feelings.

GENERATION 25: The first time you see this, copy it into your sig on any forum and add 1 to the generation.
Agreed. If you ever have to use something, please do not use mediafire. Although I will download it anyways, i still think that the other one s are better.

What? So when pigs get hit by lighting, they suddenly develop into bipeds and receive brown leather skirts and golden swords from nowhere?

Would anyone like to suggest a different upload site? I have seen plenty of people raging here on both sides, but nobody seems to be offering solutions.
The best solution is to get a job and buy some proper hosting.
As the old adage goes: You get what you pay for. And in this case, the people who download the file(s) also get what you paid for.
so you suggest the modders here, who are friendly enough to upload all their things, while they could keep them for themselves, they should pay for that?
no mods at all, if everyone was required to do that.
Well except for mine, eld's, and painterly just to name the ones I know off the top of my head who host their own packs. >_>

Tis far better to be a witty fool than a foolish wit.

Mmhmm, so what about kids who make good texture packs? Or people who want to share their creations, but aren't willing to pay for other people's enjoyment?
EDIT: Okay, did a bit of searching, and I found a nice website: Filedropper. No pop-up ads, you don't need an account, and it only requires a captcha-like thing before you download.
If Dropbox implemented a download counter that would be good, although CloudApp offers a download counter and I think having a download counter is important, I for one would Like to know how many people are downloading my work.
I have checked out that logic
and I must say
I love your avatar

That and all the porn you've been downloading.

I don't have any ads and I'm using Chrome and I'm on a Mac (If that makes a difference).
tldr: then don't download it... doesn't hurt the authors feelings.
Man. You guys should be greatful that it isn't those 2 wait-for-1-minute and need-to-get-to-premium downloading websites.
