Demonstrates:
Stone, Cobblestone, Planks, Bricks, Steps, Torches and Decorative Glowstone.
Awesome! Although I kind of liked the idea of the Nether being the Christmas Realm, either way would be awesomeness!
Can I work on mob skins please?
Yeah go for it.
Personally I'm someone who uses glowstone as decorative lanterns, but I don't see why there couldn't be an alternate texture included in the final pack.
Does anybody have any ideas for sand? I'm using purple soulstone at the moment but it doesn't mesh well.
Hey Ravecat- it's looking great!
I'm working on my own texture pack right now- not so much Nightmare Before Christmas based, but more all-around based on the overall style of Tim Burton. I'm mostly pulling ideas from screenshots of his films and replicating materials from them that seem to especially suit him. I found this thread while looking to see what had been done before so that I wouldn't be redundant in any of my pack.
I have two questions:
1) Is it okay if I post details on this thread as it progresses, or would you rather I start a different thread?
2) How on earth did you retexture the water? I've been trying to figure out how to do that for ages!

You can post here if you like, it's not just my thread, maybe we can even share ideas.
You retexture the water the same way you do any tile, only for it to work in game you have to use Xau's Texture Patcher to apply the texture pack.
Sweet deal, I'll have to dig up that texture patcher.
This is what I've got so far. There may or may not be useful ideas here- I was really going for more of the look of his more realistic films, like Edward Scissorhands or Beetlejuice, but there's a bit of Nightmare Before Christmas and Corpse Bride influence in there too.
Top Row: Log, Top half of wood door, Torch (I'm really quite happy with how the chandelier ended up looking), wool, brick, bookshelf, wood, monster spawner, top half of iron door, log again
Bottom Row: Log, bottom half of wood door, soul sand, netherack, plain ol' dirt (when it grows grass, the top just gets browner and drips down the sides, as seen far right behind the setup,) stone (this looks pretty sweet when tiled), bedrock (broken areas are transparent,) sand, bottom of iron door, still log
Honestly, I agree with the idea that christmas town should be the nether. It sounded creative. :tongue.gif: Normal pumpkins can be orange, and jackolanterns can be decorative pumpkins instead of glowstone!
What about bedrock, though? Maybe we can make bedrock oogie-boogie themed? :ohmy.gif:
And obsidian has to be brown wood, so that the gate to christmas town can be made properly :biggrin.gif:
Portals would be the same as currently, but with blue/white instead of purple!
Oh, by the way, you know how when there's snow on dirt, the texture of the sides changes? Try to make it completely white/black instead of white top, purple swirl, black bottom. White swirl and black bottom. :ohmy.gif:
Those are very cool, there's nothing stopping you from making your own 128x pack if you want too.
In my variant Oogie will be on the moon, though.
Also I do really like the wool, but I was maybe thinking of something creepier? I'm really struggling to fit white wool in to a Nightmare environment.
The only thing I can come up with is a black bat pattern overly over orange, but what will the other colours have?
So yeah, no matter what happens, I'm still for the opinion that Nether=christmas town. Infact, I'm willing to help if we get to keep it that way. :biggrin.gif:
Yeah go for it.

If not I would love do help! Maybe With the wool first, can I do the wool colours?
I was trying to think of a way to fit white wool in with the dark theme.
...I'm not usually one for non-HD packs but this looks awesome. So looking forward to this.
Maybe Iron Blocks and Diamond Blocks could be gravestones? Different kinds of Gravestones though, Iron could be simple and Diamond would be something like this: http://englishcafecdn.englishcafe.com/f ... 9.post.jpg
Because I wanna see a finished product!

Base: Cobblestone
And of course, a bed.
And here's one from the house on the hill.
I tried to make the clayish to match the film.
Reply if you like them and are good for a first try. Might go into end product if people like it.
