I'm looking for a New glow stone texture that stays true to the original.
I have 1 problem with it. The current glowstone texture is a yellow but yet glow stone gives off white light
I have looked in this section and painterly and I cannot find anything that fits what I want. Anyone have a good looking texture that stays close to the original that will look god in caves like the one shown above and used as a light source in houses / bases?
I don't think you can change white light, but the yellow from torches and the blue from moon light can be changed in the light_normal.png file in the environment folder. It looks like this:
Note, I haven't actually tried changing the colours, so I don't know for sure it changes anything. I would guess it does though.

Edit: oh wait, read the question wrong haha
Your failure may have given me helpful info anyway thanks! I'll check this out.
I have tried this exact same thing. It looks good until you get in game. I'll have a look anyway because I got mine white using a different method and i do see some differences.

Inverted and completely changed the image and it actually does nothing. The white part is now black and the black part is white and there is no change in lighting whatsoever. But whit I also found out is that torches / Jack o lanterns and even the new red stone light all emit a white light. And even a surprising thing lava. This needs to be fixed. Fire / flames / lava do not give off a white light and light stone by it's default color in a un modded texture pack should not be giving off a white light. Minecraft has come a long way since i started playing alpha but I thought that over the 3 lighting engines that were used you would at least thing they would fix this early on.
