I'm considering starting another texture pack. The problem is, I'm debating between 16x16 and 32x32. I previously made a 32x32 pack and I like some of the textures I made for it. I may just resize them and tweak them a bit. It was my first texture pack and I've never really finished it, and it was mainly based off of Mixcraft. I want to start a brand new pack but I find 32x32 a bit too difficult (or time-consuming I should say) for me, so I'm deeply considering 16x16. I'm just wondering if most people prefer SD packs over HD packs. Personally, I love 128x128 packs and such but I could never make one. I just want to know what I should have the resolution to be and what theme it should be. I really like realistic packs but I could possibly do a mix of two. I think realistic is the easiest for me at least.
Depends what you're leaning towards and what you're going for. If you feel 32x is way too time consuming for your liking, go ahead and do a 16x pack. If you're looking for variety, try your hand at 16x. So really, it's personal preference.
What I would advise since you can easily visualize realistic texture packs is go for the 32x, since people who can handle the higher resolution tend to go for 32x.
If you want to try 16x, you can do that as well, since not everyone knows how to modify and patch their game. A majority use 16x packs anyway.

I use 16x texture packs (and make one, too) not because I have a bad computer (I have an i7, with 8GBs of ram, and an nVidia GTS 450) and not because I don't know how to patch MC, just because I am fine with 16x, and don't want to be reliant on a 3rd party tool, and don't want anyone who like my pack to, either. I also think, at times, that going at too high of a resolution goes against Minecraft's idea that "graphics aren't everything, what good is a game if it doesn't have a good, original idea behind it?", y'know?

I suggest making both versions. Start with the easier, 16x16. Then move on to 32x32, keeping the same aspects.
Hehe, going from 16x16 to 32x32 while keeping the same aspects can be quite challenging. Downgrading is way easier. I'm probably just going to stick with the 16x16.

The fun is in the challenge, I say
