So, i am in the process of a WIP texture pack. I'm currently working on the GUI of it. Now for some textures, for example trap.png, which is the dispenser screen. Anyways....i wanna add other colors other than gray in the screen, but whenever I do any other colors it still comes up different darks and lights of grey. Now, when i use any tools, it comes up with this error
<insert color tool here> only operates on RGB layers....
Any idea how to make the trap.png dispenser screen operate on RGB layers?

I think it is greyscale.
copy it and paste into a new image. Replace the existing one, and edit that. It should work(I use GIMP too.)

If you want me to, PM me for my email, ill help you.
Or you could just change it to a full RGB palette under Image>Mode.
doesn't always work...something about the way some programs save .png (had that issue several times with gimp images edited with pdn and then reloaded in gimp.) but yeah...good call...lol
edit: also saving the diffuse from crazybump as a .png has this issue as well for me...

And once i'm done with the one thats colored, just copy paste the new one to the greyscale one?
No. You go into file, new image, put it the corrcet size, paste it, save it, rename it trap.png, use the right extension!, and try it.
k, thanks.
No problem.
