dude...there are no base files for animations. nobody has made a mod for them other than adding the ability to use sprite strips via mcpatcher. the only "base" is you need an animation to be a number of frames that is divisible by 16 in a strip from top to bottom. check the patcher thread op for all the proper file names.

I understand that... I have made that clear. use the default texture from the terrain.png and animate it like i said. I have offered help and advice yet all you are doing is complaining about the help you get. It is a simple thing to do. If you are reaching out for someone to do it for you just say so.

Well then, perhaps you should make. it. yourself. As was suggested before. There IS NOT a base for you to use. You'll just have to make your own, starting from scratch. Arguing nonsenses will not assist you in any form, this thread is becoming pointless.
if it weren't for the simple fact I would be doing it FOR you, I would animate the one from the terrain and prove it can be used as the base texture for the animation. I hate to say it, but you shouldn't get into an argument with the the local go to guy for animations on this forum. Good luck getting any more help.

@Vexx32: exactly
The on in the terrain.png is not the one show in game on the default pack. You perhaps might be running MCPAtcher, sometimes it changes unchanged water into the one in terrain.png
I think you miss my point completely. You can take a single texture and make it into a multi frame animation.... I would look into that a little more if I were you. I think you have missed the basic idea of sprite animation.
I'm not trying to be rude btw...I really am trying to help you out. But it has become obvious you don't have the basics down, and are not understanding what we are trying to tell you. Google tutorials for it for the program that you use... it will at least explain what I have been pointing out.
edit: after playing around with it a bit.... I have realized that the texture on the terrain IS the same as the animation, but rotated sideways. The animations in game are just a blending animation to make different parts of that texture show up at different times. It is most definitely the base for the animations.
edit: the in game default animation is a hard coded script in the programming, which does the same thing we do for the custom animations before we make them into a sprite strip.
It's like Grugsy said. If you don't get what he said, I'll word it my way...
The files you are attempting to make are not files from the default MC terrain. They are created and then placed in a texture pack and the patcher makes them work. There are no base files to go by. You have to create them from scratch by using the tutorial Grugsy posted.
Simple as that.

Yes, but the ingame ones are created by a script/code. Is there a way to find that script/code and get it from there?
But still, a base, anyone?
I want.
My texture.
To be a variation.
Of the default.
Can someone help?
