Hello, and thanks for taking interest in my texture pack.
One question that's often raised on this forum is "How long does it take to make a Resource Pack?" Mint Flavor was a personal challenge to answer that question by creating a resource pack as quickly as possible, while still trying to keep a certain standard of quality and make a product that someone might actually want to use.
It took me 36 days of work over the span of two and a half months to complete 100% of all of the vanilla Minecraft texture assets. Some interesting facts about how long it took me to make certain aspects of the pack can be found in the spoiler below. Sufficed to say, it was an interesting challenge, and I hope that you enjoy the end result of it!
● Blocks took me 13 days. With 357 blocks in the pack, I worked at a rate of approximately 27.4 block texture per day.
● Item textures were finished in just four days, counting the worn armor textures. With 215 item textures in the pack, that means I made approximately 53.75 items per day.
● There are 86 total textures for entities, which were finished over the course of ten days. That's only 8.6 entity textures I was able to create each day. Entity textures are VERY time consuming.
● GUI Elements were completed in just four days. With 41 GUI Elements in Minecraft as of 14w21b, that means I created approximately ten GUI images per day. This includes the ones that only have a few icons on them (because Mojang cannot see clear to use their GUI texture sheets efficiently), and demonstrates just how long it takes to get good layouts for these things in spite of the very minimalist style I used for the pack.
● Paintings were the most difficult thing for me to do simply because I had a HUGE amount of artists block. I couldn't think of what to do for them, but the ideas slowly came to me over the course of three days making my rate a measly 8.7 paintings per day.

Right now this isn't so much an actual Frequently Asked Questions section as it is a section of questions that I know are going to be frequently asked and that I'd like to answer before they annoy me. Please read this section before asking me stuff. Thanks.
Q: I want to do something with your pack. May I? A: Read the License. You can basically do whatever you want as long as you: 1) give me credit and link back to this thread, 2) make no money from it (including from ads) unless it's a video (such as those found on youtube.com), and 3) release your work under the same license that this pack is released under.
If you do something cool with it, let me know and I'll link to you.
Q: I can't read/don't understand/don't want to follow the license. May I just ask your permission? A: If this is the case, the answer is "no you may not."
Q: Will you add mod support for to this pack? A: No. This pack is going to stay vanilla only. At least, from me it is. If someone else wants to make a mod support add-on pack for Mint Flavor I'll be happy to link to it. I won't be making one, though, as I already have quite enough to do adding mod support to my other pack,
Q: How about MCPatcher/Optifine features? A: Again, I'm not going to go beyond vanilla for this pack. If someone else wants to do it, that's fine and I'll be happy to link to your work if it's of decent quality. I'm not going to make it, though, just because of the time element involved.
Q: Are you going to update to the next Minecraft version, and how long will it take? A:Unless I say otherwise (there will probably be a big sign at the top of this thread) I'll always update to the next Minecraft version. I generally (though not always) try to keep up with the snapshots, so the new version is usually available on release day or the day after. Usually. Not always. Do NOT pester me. No. This pack is no longer updating as of 1.12.x. Sorry about that. I did indeed put a sign at the top of the thread explaining this.
Q: Why don't you use adf.ly? A: Adf.ly is probably the most reliable per-click revenue stream available at the moment, but I refuse to do business with them because of the practices of the advertisers they do business with. In particular, I've seen several ads that try to download, or trick you into downloading, software that contains spyware/malware. No amount of money they can pay me is worth the guilt I'd feel knowing that I contributed to even a single person's computer getting infected by that garbage.
Q: Why do you answer questions in mint green text? A: If you have to ask, you're clearly not paying attention.

Nice Work! Its impressive what you were able to make in approx. 1 month total of work. You look like you worked hard to maintain a level a quality that would be pleasing enough for players. The most impressive part is that you were able to make it look nice within a months time!
Mate, I love the idea of this pack. You have some fantastic textures in this one. Most of all I love the Dragon!!!! Absolutely beautiful. Thank you for the hard work.

(koo-star-neek) The real numbers are countable and I CAN prove it. Cantor was wrong!
If its by Alvoria, I wanna see it, you make excellent tutorials, and excellent packs, nice work!
It feels very unique and different... I like it
This is a high quality resource pack!
You make me want to try and do my own speed run. However I know it would take far longer due to the hours I work and the commute to and from. I'm lucky I can update Glendale XD
I'm glad to see you have finished this! Now that I see all of the textures together, I can tell the color choices compliment each other very well.
Keep up the good work.

Roses are red, violets are blue, sugar is sweet, and so are you.
The roses are wilted, the violets are dead, the sugar bowl's empty, and so is your head.

This was definitely a difficult challenge, and I'm really happy with what I managed to make given the fact that I powered through it with such gusto. I'm really happy that you like it.

Thanks for the compliment! Yea, I'm pretty proud of the dragon. It's a different concept from what I usually see people do with it, and adding the glowing tiger stripes to it was a bit of last-minute inspiration.

I always try to do my very best on everything that I do. I don't always succeed, but I do put forth the effort. I'm really glad you like this pack. It was... both fun and frustrating to work on.
You make me want to try and do my own speed run. However I know it would take far longer due to the hours I work and the commute to and from. I'm lucky I can update Glendale XD
Yea, I would never have attempted this if I were still working a full time job or still had another pack going. I hope you get the opportunity to try one someday, but for the time being I'd really like to see you continue to work on Glendale. It's an amazing pack, and really deserves more popularity than it's gotten.
it's not my style, but that may be inevitable. Pixel art, low sat, and retro packs are not my cup of t.
Again, well done!
Yea, I know what you mean. It'd definitely not for everyone, and if I hadn't been doing a speed challenge I probably wouldn't have chosen this style. I'm glad you think it's well done, though, even if you don't plan to use it. Thanks.
You've got some very inventive and attractive textures. I do find the style of highly varied colors within textures sometimes makes it hard to see irregularly shaped objects. It's really noticeable with grass plants on grass blocks.

Geographicraft (formerly Climate Control) - Control climate, ocean, and land sizes; stop chunk walls; put modded biomes into Default worlds, and more!
RTG plus - All the beautiful terrain of RTG, plus varied and beautiful trees and forests.

Yea, there's not much that can be done about that. The palette I was using kinda forced it to be higher-contrast than I may have liked. Not much that can be done about it now I'm afraid.
I've been using this for a week now, and I must say this pack is just perfect.
Thank you so much! It may not seem like much, but I don't think I've ever gotten a comment telling me someone has actually used one of my packs. It seems silly, but there's always the fear in the back of my mind that everyone who has downloaded it has hated it. Knowing that someone is enjoying using it really makes me feel good.
Now THIS is a compliment for a "challenge pack"! I'm happy it is used, it truely deserves this kind of "treatment"!
Agreed! Knowing someone is using it is really high praise. I hoped that I had produced something of quality despite it being a personal speed challenge, but to hear that someone is actually enjoying using it really makes me feel good about what I've created.
I think I may have found my new default pack.
This is genuinely incredible! I really cannot believe that this pack was made in just over a month!
Every single part of this pack looks like hours were poured into it, and everything just. . . Meshes so well!
I really love this pack, and I hope that you keep it updated!
Excellent job Alvoria! This pack is beautifully made and is an excellent example of what a pack can be done quickly however done with very intelligent design work.
It's making my Minecraft feel all minty fresh. A generous blend of spearmint and peppermint with a overdose of awesome.
(Almost makes me wanna put Linux Mint on my PC so I can say I play minecraft on Linux Mint with Mint Flavored Resource pack XD)

Thanks Xorjt, you made my day!
You're very welcome.
I always look for packs that are 100% complete, items, mobs, and terrain, and yours fit that bill, and looked lovely at the same time. I tried it out, and I loved it instantly.
Other packs, such as Eld Pack, AI Pack, Quandary, and Derivation are my top favorites, and have been for years.
The thing these packs all have in common is they are done completely, and I can tell what an item is simply by looking at it.
Again, very good job, and I'd be quite appreciative if you kept this up to date.

That's two people now who have said that they're actually using this pack. I'm wondering if this isn't the better of my two packs. I'm really glad that you enjoy it; and don't worry, I'll definitely be updating this pack every snapshot.

Surprised Sanity isn't also on that list since it too is 100% complete. Then again, it's also significantly different from the ones you have listed so perhaps that's why.
Again, very good job, and I'd be quite appreciative if you kept this up to date.
Definitely. As a couple of people pointed out in my WIP thread, since it's a speed run it shouldn't take me a load of time to keep it up to day so there's really no reason not to do so. As such, I'll be updating it with every snapshot as time allows.
Goodness. I'm already making a pack called Libertascraft (place holder name; most likely taken) and it's 32x because I just can't work with 16x. But after seeing thing, it lets me know that's it's hard, but not impossible. I'm gonna do a side 16x pack and see how it goes.

True. It takes a lot of dedication to make a full pack that looks good. Not to mention more than a little skill. I don't recommend doing to speed run like I did if it's your first pack, though. Give yourself time to fully explore and get a style going. If you press yourself too hard, you'll end up hating what you create.
But yea, making packs is hard work. Rewarding, but still hard.
I personally think 16x is way the easiest. 32x looks better but is sometimes harder to pull off. For my 8x pack I made tons of textures a day because they were so fast to do, but every now and then it took me time to make something detailed. So I suppose for higher resolutions it's the other way around, it's easy to put detail but it takes a long time.
This is about right, truth be told. Even at 16x the restriction on detail frustrates me at times, where at 32x it's a lot easier to get what I want without any fuss. Whether it takes a lot longer really depends on the style, and your workflow, though.
